You may need to forget the fuel saving bonus, to save fuel you have to drive steady, they don’t do steady :unamused:  if you do you won’t last long.

I’ve overtaken a few of them since this job :open_mouth:  One of our ex employees is there and loves it. Similar money, newer trucks (most places are!) and a push of a switch to unload (now that is appealing).
Had a real illegitimate child of a drop today; Regular customer has moved his bakery from shop to an industrial unit-pumptruck in on a lovely smooth floor…to find the baker wants it handballed off. :imp: :imp: :imp:
Anyhow, the flag’s been dusted off and my believed lost Canadian plate has been found; I left it in Merv Gibsons’ Daf. I’ve seen a red painted model of a Hawk Jet I might modify to make a cab adornment too.

I believe, although I stand to be corrected, that vehicles of this size are fitted with 56 mph speed limiters! Strange, I was doing that but he pulled away from me :open_mouth:. Answers on a post-card please :unamused:

There’s a rumour going round that Trucknet members are exempt from the limiter regulations!

Nice  . Hey Steve, you clearly new that with this wagon of yours, why haven’t you told me■■?

It’s a secret.

It’s a secret.

Whoops, sorry!

Just sumat different, but still driving, a few years ago my mate (drives fuel tankers) & I went on a jolly down to Morroco for 3 weeks & out into the Sahara, got stuck “again” but did the British thing, stayed calm & got the Beers outa the fridge, & a very nice man with another Discovery came along & pulled us out

Chris, after driving these yanktanks that are either limited to 75mph or have no limiter at all I could’nt go back to a 56mph speed limit, mind you the amount of time they lose while have a blown tyre changed sort of negates the time they’ve made up.

Hi Charlie, hope you are keeping well! Over there mate I would imagine 56 would drive you insane :imp: , as you say though I bet the tyre thing is bang on (forgive the pun  )! Over here now I think it depends who you are on for, I mean all speeding does now is get you to the back of the next traffic jam/delay/queue even quicker :unamused: , so I just don’t see the point  . What with Digi-cards/ cameras etc etc, you are always under someone’s watchfull eye, I got some of my blokes that I have followed in my car going home or going into work doing 56 in a 40 limit, even 56 in a 50 limit, so no doubt they are doing 40-45-50 in 30 limits,so again what’s the point? Who are these blokes trying to impress, the traffic-office? Why, do they honestly think they are thought more of, I’m their Supervisor & I think they are ■■■■-heads, & I tell them, they are putting their licence at risk, & nowadays risking fines with 000s on the end, to impress people who couldn’t give a toss about them, or to get home half-a-hour early! The foot hard down eyes shut & smile days have gone now, & they will never come back, so just take your foot off & stick to the rules, cos with the size of the fines now any extra you do get will be more than wiped out when you have to hand over that cheque to the beak & possibly have your licence suspended for 3-6 months :open_mouth: Regards Chris

Just found another from my British Leyland days, aged 18 just got my Class 3!

I’ll never go to Earthline Kev, not rushing about everywhere the way they do. Bennies’ have got rid of their tippers, as have sister firm Barton Plant.

Hey Chris , no it should be limited to 56mph as your is , I have not seen defect to say its not doing that :open_mouth: ,but "the hoff " is pretty keen with defects etc and his tachos show he never speeds ,he also is keen on sticking to 40mph on single carriageways. I will ask him tomorrow morning though.

Phil is a dam good driver and that’s why I pay him well .

Gravelman, there is life after Smiffs (and more money).
By the way, nice to see a quote taken in full.

Chris , "the hoff " said it might of gone over a bit going down hill

I think a lot of us must have said things like that, and then gone and worked for the firm. I know I have.
