This is a couple of the motors i drove for macburnie the fh is on the german boarder the daf is at sainsbury maidstone collecting supplies for the week. The fh was T reg the daf Xreg and was the 480 all the rest were 530,s.Gavin & Dougal two of the best blokes i ever worked for
Hi Pete , great shots of your macburnie wagons , I think Chris ( adr) who is on this site drove them as well , look down thses pages .
I remember a Pete Gough who had a Leyland Constructor 8wheeler in ARC colours. He then went freelance in his own livery for a while, mid '90s. He used to park at the dairy/tyre depot at Newland in Witney. He packed up as an od and went on for LA Lockhart at Black Bourton.
Talking of the old Newland dairy, Chris Gilbert used to park his F reg Cargo 6wheeler there. It carried about 16.700 at 25t mgw and was a PITA to load shingle on as it was so low. Another tipper operator I remember was Goodmans of North Leigh. Malcolm Goodman is still an od, with a dark blue cabbed Daf CF 8w.
Does anyone remember James Bull Plant of Waterstock, near Wheatley? Red Scania 3 series tippers, a short-lived firm.
A new toy arrived at Matthews’ mill yesterday afternoon. A new Daf 6wheeler, no time on display or for any “driver training” it went straight to work in London this morning.
…I’m double manning it tomorrow around Notts and Derbyshire.
Bank Holiday working with a new motor.
Unloading in Cullompton this morning.
Loading veg for California near San Antonio Texas where the Alamo is.
Now thats a truck “chazzer” mean and clean
It’s a 75mph plus mean machine Jakey, no one speed for cars and another for trucks , if it says 75 everyone can do it and no tachograph either.
JAKEY:
how about going back on here Dave , bigger and better wagon bet the wages are not as good ?
Hi Lads,
were any of you on Timbmet when they had the ERF’s
I have one that i suspect was ex Timbmet, and just trying to find out a bit about it
Hi Toddy2 , ERF looks nice now buddy , any picture of when you bought her ?
Last drop off yesterday. Took in Worcestershire, Shropshire, Yam Yam and Brum, before backloading some new pallets to the mill.
Called in at home on way to get pallets, and had to let someone see the lorry. I don’t think anyone has ever been so fascinated watching a tail lift.
chazzer:
They’ve given me a new truck with auto box much better than the old Peterbilt.
Hi Charlie,
Very pretty, not a lot of good doing 6 drops round London on Budweiser mate, been nice up & down to Stag though , or on the Stepps changeover on nights
Regards Chris
Your right Chris, at about 70ft long it would be a bit tight around London.

But if I was offered it I’d have a ■■■■ good go mate . Good luck to you buddy, wish I had it to play with every day
Take care.

Sorry for not replying sooner Jakey. been up the road a bit lateley
see if these upload, she was already white when i bought her, I just added the visor & beacons & painted the bumper,
I am looking for an under bumper spoiler to add, so i can put some lights on it & a new plate
regards
Hi Toddy , she looks very tidy , what was the inside like when you bought it ? , was she used as a shunter later on in life ?.
Jakey
Hi Jakey, no she is in pretty good nick. Only got 575,000 k on the clock, which seems to be genuine. Carpet & Curtains look original & seats have no rips. Looks better than some of the 09 Scania’s i drive for UK mail.
Runs sweet, and I have a stack of service sheets, Test center checklists & receipts from previous owners.
Reckon she has been well looked after.
In fact, I bought her from a bloke who bought her a couple of months earlier for shunting, then realised that she was no good for 45 footers being only a short wheelbase. He had thrown away the run up ramps & moved the coupling back, and still hit the cowling at the back of the cab. I managed to buy her before she got wrecked.
