NEJ:
Although not actually hauliers as such but grain merchants: Padley’s and Wareings of Sleaford.
The name escapes me but the hauliers from Gainsborough with Blue & White Roadtrains and Scanias who I am sure are still in operation!
CSL from Scunthorpe who used to carry steel out of Scunthorpe steel works.
CSL are the sofa people off of the telly advert CLS are the outfit from Scunny, Consolidated Land Services by their full name, and formerly North Lincs Haulage.

T H Browns were a Grimsby firm, ran Leylands years ago and then Scanias,in fact I think they were Scania agents.Another Grimsby firm was Greaves and Lamming, both firms did a lot of bulk fertilizer for Fisons. And I think you are right Nigel, green livery, both of them.
I seem to think TH Browns were blue with yellow signwriting. Regards, Haddy.
TH Browns were from Grimsby, and painted blue with a yellow roof for years, but before that they were apple green and originaly from Waltham just south of Grimsby.

This scammell has a Grimsby registration and is pulling a rear steering tri axle. (Boden I belive)

On the photo of the two scannies loading drums, I’m told that its Jack Martin on the forklift and Len Brumpton on the lorry. Is that correct do you know ?

Just had the photo and the magnifying glass out… i’m pretty sure it is Les up top, and the forklift driver does look like it is Jack.

Any idea who driver is with puncture ?
Yes, it is Ian Fraser (Jock Fraser)
NEE 287M was a bit of an oddball when new as it was a ■■■■■■■ among all the Gardners wasn’t it ?
It was yes, the following year they switched back to a Gardner engine, I don’t know why, maybe it was more thirsty, maybe it was reliability. These were before my time, Dad would have known but can’t ask him anymore.

Yes, I think many drivers complained to Jack Martin about the performance compared to the Gardners but he always replied with the “Yes, but that ■■■■■■■ is doing 2mpg worse than yours !!” I think that picture of the 110 tipping in Fisons rock store at Immingham was used by Taskers as a promotional picture and if you notice the hydraulics are on the trailer because the only one’s with pumps fitted were on the Tioxide job.
