Hi Daz,welcome to the forum,I remember DMT from Lincoln but have no photos.I’ll get my brain in gear and think of some old Lincs companies from the 50s and 60s,plenty of produce merchants to go at and others like Barkers and Lee Smith who made cattle food in Lincoln and ran Commer TS3s,Jaines from Louth where I used to live,Red Lion Concrete from Alford - concrete blocks on days and potato deliveries at night - I think Alford Traffic Services have that yard now.
I’ll have another think…
Remember Smiths Crisps from Lincoln? The Albion on the left is loaded with spuds and the one on the right loaded with those little blue salt packets in sacks

Hi Chris, in the sixties we used to run Record potatoes from Smith’s Nocton Hall Estate just past Bracebridge. At that
time they had crisp factories all over the country. I used to deliver the same 1cwt hessian sacks to Portsmouth, Lincoln,
Stockport and Fleetwood. Fleetwood was the best drop as it was on Copse Road next to the fish curing plant and a sack
of spuds from the back of the lorry would get you a very large bag of smoked haddock. I was driving for A.Brown & Son
of Epworth, they were big potato merchants in Lincs and North Yorks. regards Big Al

Hi Al.That estate was not a million miles from RAF Waddington and the RAF Hospital at Nocton Hall and I remember seeing Browns of Epworth as well.Smoked Haddock and chips, nowt wrong with that.
D.Browny - I remember E R Wrights as well, dark green livery, and they used to park on the cattle market on Newmarket Road Louth when I lived there in the 50s.They were a big firm in Lincolnshire at that time.
Now then you Lincs lads,is this firm still going,George H Kime from Wrangle? One of their Leyland Lynx units and Carrimore trailer on Boston docks, the photo must have been taken in or after 1938 as this was the year they became a limited company. They did a lot of market work and I saw them regular in Sheffield and going over Woodhead to the Lancs markets.I think there was another Kime - Ernest F Kime, not sure where they were from, but I presume they were related?
This one is a bit earlier than the 80’s which was given to me by John Harrison .
This one I think was from The Bubbleman Treasure Trove so I hope that Marcus wont mind me reshowing it .
An old mate of mine Steve Goodwin drove a Mandater for Fosters of Lincoln for quite a few years in the early seventies before he became an owner driver. Does anybody know if Steve is still on the road .

Nice pictures Steve and I remember them both.Lin-Can were based at Long Sutton Lincs if I remember correctly and Fosters yard at Langworth was next to a level crossing on the Lincoln - Grimsby line.

hi mate,my dad used to work for DMT on outer circle,he drove a merc(not sure of model)
I think E H Lee were a Peterborough firm but years ago they had a depot on the Manby Road not far from Louth. I don’t recall seing any pics of their motors though.
Of course Wheel Nut, Denby’s . I am surprised that nobody has mentioned them before.
I once loaded from an old airfield in Lincolnshire for Italy although I am not sure exactly where it was can anybody remember it.
If you came out of Lincoln heading north on the A15, you passed R.A.F. Scampton on the left and then after a few miles you turned left and headed into the countryside. I can remember this old airfield ( although I can’t remember seeing a runway) only having about three hangers, one of them was half full of bales of cloth from Courtaulds. I only saw one guy working there with a forklift who I think worked for Denby as there was a red and white sign on the gate saying Denby Warehousing. There were no other trucks around as it just seemed that this one guy ran the place on his own. I have looked on Google Earth and there are a few possibilities but did anybody else tip or reload from this place or do you know the place that I mean .
While we are in Lincolnshire can anybody remember the name of the company that were on another old airfield who made similar buildings to Portacabins. I think that they were somewhere near the Gainsborough area.
