Nice to see you still around Mr Ishift . Did Browns build the workshop where Scania are now ? or was there an engineering company in there before them ? Geoff
Afternoon dosser, I think when they moved from the haulage yard to where they are now that the building was already there as inside there is some overhead cranes which probably were used for engineering or similar. Ishift
Well in 1967 Garth lane was not suitable for the Scania-Vabis agency thatâs true , so a stop gap was Killingholm , after pressure from Scania-Vabis the new depot was built on Est Rd One in 69-70 ,Scanlink being the buildings behind the offices ,with drive through bays , the Scania owned depot used now was a Steel stockholders that lay empty until Browns took it over for its Fiat truck agency ,after that failed the Scania dealership was moved there , the day Browns sold this to AB Scania all the staff received a pay rise from Scania and moral improved , Transport would be so much better without the likes of the Brown family entering it , I know of at least one Grimsby haulier that would never buy a lorry from them because of their underhand ways .

Morning Lilladen, I donât know any of the Brown family personally but I must admit to never hearing that one before about them, you obviously never bought a Scania from them but must have had some bad dealings at some point ?

Spillers Gainsborough, not my pic off internet just to make things clear,Cheers Pete
Great pic, is that Carr lane Gainsborough ? If so, them tips were altered in later years and after ABN took over from Dalgety they closed it and moved production to Flixborough.
On Friday 26th February there is an informal reunion for past drivers and staff of TH Brown Grimsby at the King William pub in scawby brook Brigg commencing at 7.30 pm. All are welcome including friends, wives and girlfriends with information posted out to them who are known shortly.

HI,
I remember McVeighâs and Anglo Danish My Dad worked for them from the very early days, I have very fond memories from those days every chance I got I went to work with my Dad George Patterson. I recognize many of the names on these postâs sadly my Dad pasted away on the 17/07/2015 and His funeral is at the crematorium at Grimsby on Tuesday 28/07/15 at 12:20 and if anybody remembers him they would be more than welcome to attend I also would love to hear any of the stories from the great times that people can remember about my Dad.
Thanks
Phil Patterson

The Scanlink / Scania GB building was owned by Cosalt prior to it being bought for the garage.

I canât comment on the dealership side of things because I never had anything to do with it, but on the transport side, how can you knock an employer giving over 200 people employment at their height? If they were really that bad, why did they have half a dozen or so people who had put in 25+ years service? Bronco did over 40 years! and then more that must have done 20 years with them. No Matter the employer, there are always complainers.
