Thanks for that Lilladen, the info on KVS was only what I were told from an ex employee who worked there, so were Scanias not sold from there ? The gearbox in the 110 (which apart from the standard 5 speed I always thought was GR860) must have been a splitter box was it, the same as the 2 stick system as the Vabis ? I couldnât comment on Scania copying Volvo but maybe thatâs correct also. The reference to blue and yellow was meant to indicate the use of Scaniaâs colours by Browns which in turn were based on Swedens national colours but the lorries were more of an orange as you strongly pointed out. Also, the 2 pics in question are part of my collection which I have receipts of their purchase with no copyright restriction. Thanks
The images were used in a magazine , the mag has a warning that no part may be copied or reprinted , exept for review purposes , some may break the law and scan the mag , then sell the pics , no matter how many receipts you have , or how much you pay , the copywrite remains with the person who took the image , I did not take pics so that in future someone that did not think to take any or was not born or old enough to would make money or get glory from them , there is a warning in the beginning of trucknet not to use others images , please remove them , And funny enough no , the GUY agent did not sell any Scanias , also many TH Brown staff claimed that THB had the first Scania - vabis s in the UK ( the two
Ereg s) another load of bull , one went into service at least three years before that ! and some firms had 1966

Morning Lilladen, I must apologise for any offence obviously caused by sharing those pics on here and as you will have noticed removed them immediately along with my own photos. I havenât read the magazine in question and only purchased the photos off the internet because of them being of local interest and thought relevant to the enjoyment of others on this forum, but in my ignorance didnât realise that anybody would ever be offended by sharing old lorry pictures. Probably like yourself, I have spent all my life to this very day in transport (taking many photos on the way) and can assure you I donât see any financial gain or âgloryâ from these pics, nor do I claim to know everything, which is why I enjoy reading peoples memories and opinions on Trucknet.
Finally, on a lighter note, I sense from your comments that a good thread on here may be a âGreaves & Lamming/Volvo vs TH Brown/Scaniaâ ?
Regards ISHIFT
Really enjoyed the photos and certainly not offended by them ! many thanks , Geoff

Hello Mr ISHIFT , thanks for removing the images , Sadly I have been conned by people wanting copies of my pics just for their own enjoyment
then they have used them in mags or sold copies , we even found a guy at Gayden selling DVDs full of others pics! , I can inform you that Scania dealer Guy Brown did have a good look at a Greaves and Lamming F86 and wondered if his family should try some ! but then said the lorry had
nothing to offer them G&L pointed out it offered two ton more payload than a Scania LB110 and only used half the fuel ! and took only three gallons of oil at service , plus you could buy at least five F86 for the price of four 110
s ect ect , at least two THB drivers wanting to get their own lorry went to see John Hebb for an old F86 to start with , such was the reputation of this lorry , more than one took over a Scania that Browns wanted to get rid of and had it written off beyond economic repair
, just because of the cost of a full engine overhaul
This threads gunna go quiet now Ishifts out of action
I hope that ISHIFT is going to rise above a few tetchy remarks about inadvertant misuse of some photo,s.
The majority of us enjoy benefiting from his knowledge of the Lincolnshire haulage scene.
He has removed the photo,s ,as requested , so maybe we can have more contributions from ISHIFT on this thread for debate.

Hi Mr Lillidan thank you for ruining one of the few pleasures that I have left.
I have enjoyed this thread and the ISHIFT contributions immensely until you came along.
The TH Brown photo with Joe Merryweather servicing a vehicle was very poignant because for 15 years I lived next door to Joe and I went to school with his son Roger and his wife Barbara ran the Grattans club catalogue which my mam used to cloth all 7 of us.
My dad was a farm labourer when he came out the army after the war with a tied cottage until he hit the big time and got a job as a lorry driver with Proctor bros the builders which he kept for 40 years plus we got a council house to go with it.
Mr Lillidan I come from humble but proud stock but I hate being told what to do by jobsworthâs
If you had sent me the same message you sent ISHIFT the answer would have been 2 words and the second. would have been OFF.
I understand there are copyright laws but for Gods sake this is old drivers looking back, who the hell has got rights on 2 old Scaniaâs that Brownies used to run.
If this is the case then thank God Dennis Smith could afford a camera otherwise the Bewick channel would be sued for millions,
Mr Lillidan was you ever a special constable or a voluntary traffic warden because you come across as such.
WHEN THE GOVERMENT THE BANKERS AND FIFA RIPPING US OFF AND ISIS CHOPPING OUR HEADS OFF IS A FEW OLD PHOTOS SUCH A BIG DEAL<
Well said Mate , He seems to have done a real good job there ! Lets hope Mr Ishift comes back soon . Geoff

I agree ,i much does a chuffin photo cost ,ffs
Good evening Dosser, Bassman, Seth70 and El Griffo.
Thank you for your comments as I never realised you enjoyed the old pics and memories as much as myself and because of this I will post the photos again. On reflection I should have left them on but I felt very saddened and angry, not with the comments themselves but by the aggression in the way they were put across and therefore removed my contribution to this thread before I calmed down. Regarding photos, last year many of mine were taken from here and were not only displayed at Lincoln steam rally but were also in the Grimsby Telegraph âold lorryâ section which has my complete blessing if other people enjoy them but I genuinely didnât realise how strongly people felt about photographs and probably should have been more considerate before posting. Everybody has an opinion but I really donât want to get drawn into any bitter arguments and just enjoy this Trucknet forum for what it is, which for most is look back at the âgood old daysâ of road haulage.
Regards ISHIFT
ISHIFTS
Good to see you have returned to the thread.
If Lilladan is of the opinion that a few photo,s being used without copyright permission is worth depriving many people , including I dare say himself ,of the pleasure of being part of the thread that discussâ s the Lincolnshire haulage scene then I think he is adopting a selfish attitude.
We are all aware ,or should be ,about using others photoâs without permission. But to what lengths do you go to to authenticate a picture you have bought from what appears to be a legitimate source in order to use it in the pursuit of your interest.
Lilladan may or may not have been justified in reacting as he did but i think he could have used a different approach to the one he did, and as you did as requested and removed the photoâs that should be the end of the matter, but it does leave a nasty taste in the mouth.
In his defence, Lilladan has contributed a lot to the thread and I hope he continues to do so, but accepts that most people on these forums arenât interested in making monetary gain from the photo,s displayed. They just wish to share information and enjoy debate about the said thread.
As for you ISHIFT, most of us would wish you to carry on from where you left off , contributing to the thread that a lot of us from Lincolnshire have enjoyed and would like to carry on doing so.
Cheers Bassman

HI,
I remember McVeighâs and Anglo Danish My Dad worked for them from the very early days, I have very fond memories from those days every chance I got I went to work with my Dad George Patterson. I recognize many of the names on these postâs sadly my Dad pasted away on the 17/07/2015 and His funeral is at the crematorium at Grimsby on Tuesday 28/07/15 at 12:20 and if anybody remembers him they would be more than welcome to attend I also would love to hear any of the stories from the great times that people can remember about my Dad.
Thanks
Phil Patterson
Hi mr EL Griffo , or can I call you Shag ,or even Roger Shag , you miss the point in asking if was a Policeman , a copper would object to you stealing any images , I only object to a person stealing mine ! , hope you like Volvo fitting the blockeringsventil blocking valve as standard on all of their trucks , I think you may know why , sorry but I dont see how telling the readers KVS at Killingholm the Guy dealers , was some thing to do with the Brown family and sold Scania
s there is great knowledge , and that is was mr Ishift was doing , but yes its nice to look at the photos , and I also come from a poor background when we had outside toilet frozen in winter under ice minus 20 ! , Sorry I missed mr Pattersons funeral , I knew him a little , he drove up a car transporters ramps one day when it was unloading ! must have had an early start that day I would suppose .

Good morning, after recent research it turns out contrary to what was posted on here that in the mid 60âs TH Brown DID start the Scania franchise from Killingholme. While still based at Garth Lane in Grimsby Tom Brown set up a company called Killingholme Fuels which was run by Guy Brown and Clive Lingard who went on to be service manager at Scanlink, and this site was used not only for Browns lorries to fuel up but was also the first base for the newly awarded Scania franchise before purpose built premises were built at Pyewipe. I believe these premises were demolished when the dual carriageway was constructed through Killingholme but maybe this is the confusion between âKillingholme Fuelsâ and âKillingholme Vehicle Servicesâ but after all it was 50 years ago !!! I also come from a working class background but luckily the toilet was indoors )
Nice to see you still around Mr Ishift . Did Browns build the workshop where Scania are now ? or was there an engineering company in there before them ? Geoff
