Thats right tony it did,Did you ever look in that overgrown yard behind the parking area,There were a couple of old trucks in there among the trees i couldant make out what they were.
regards dave.

Hi all, is this the same Jocks

Hiya That pikky of Jocks Cafe brings back memories(thanks for posting it)…The old lorries in the scrub next to jocks one of then is a quite rare ERF and has been restored.its on the show scene painted blue with a red jib.If you go on Google and type in Kelsall ERF rally o8 theirs a photo of the truck it says T R T S
on the headboard.the ERF was new to Bakers Southampton and had a AEC engine.

does any of you old timers remember when kates cabin was rebuilt the new building was built around the old one when finished the old wood building was taken out through the doors of the new building.
regarding another thread on farmers cafe in aldgate it stated that the owner was almost shot in a drive by shooting in fact a gunman walked into the cafe asked for farmer by name and then shot him dead.

Hiya…This cafe/shack has been bugging me for a while,I don’t know if it had a name or not.On the Banbury to Kiddlington road
in the 70s I can recall a cafe on the left (Oxford bound) going up a hill towards a large cross roads the B4031 Deddington that was
always full and you tried the next Shack. I think it was nr North Ashton Village. Their was a rough layby on the left and IICR you went
through a hole in the edge into a dark dingy cafe. But as we’ve said leaving Leek at four in the morning battling through Brum Warwick
then Banbury that shack was a welcoming site with its smell of bacon saying eat me.There was also a motorhome/ bus on the right
near a large pub closer to Kiddlington but was to far to wait for brekky.

Doe’s anyone remember the transport cafe at Highleadon,on the B4215 Gloucester to Newent road,it was where the ESSO service station is now.

Hullo All,
I have´nt read this thread right through, so it may have been mentioned before. I used to love to stop at that Bungalow that was Colsterworth Cafe. A really homely atmostphere and really good homemade meals, with good service. Then they pulled It down to put that Poxy Services in it´s place. It was a good stopping off place for me being mid way between Hull and London. There was of course that crap American type Diner erected behind it, always full of Stobart uniforms, and only selling fried foods.
Cheers, Archie.

I rember the Kates cabin both old and new, they still used the old one whilst the new one was built over it. I slept in the new one a few times, the bedrooms were on the first floor.

Hi David, I have just had another flashback :open_mouth: , I keep getting them every time I come on this website :unamused: .
Can anybody remember the graffitti on the back of the toilet doors at Watford Gap Services northbound in the 80’s ?.
Somebody had scrawled My Mother Made Me A ■■■■■■■■■■ and underneath somebody else had written, If I Buy The Wool Can She Make Me One  .

Regards Steve.

I remember that one being ‘My mother made me a homosexual’? I don’t recall ■■■■■■■■■■ being in regualr use then, we just used to call them child molesters.
Some bog doors could be quite a read, ‘look up, look up, oh you just p’d on your boots’ was just one. Remember another wag had written on a bridge across the A1 underneath ‘Jesus Saves’, ‘Not unless he changes at Doncaster he don’t!’ Still chuckle about that one, you have to admire either their bravery or stupidity at hanging over these bridges, and furthermore have any of you actually seen any one doing it? Used to night run to Bathgate from Essex and I ain’t never seen anybody doing this.
Regards

Hiya …Archie…you said about the stobarts drivers in the cafe WELL that was a sad jobbie, I was sitting in Crick truck stop one day and this chap come and
sat with me and asked what depot of Stobarts i worked for(I had a green outfit on with tie)sorry mate i worked for Laybond.Well he told me he’d worked for this family outfit for 25 years and Stobart had just taken them over and he hated the situation, but what was what and he was stuck. The firm was down the ■■■■■■■■■ lane nr Colsterworth cafe so these lads was possibly only in Stobarts uniform and that was there watering hole. This driver did say untill Eddiy had
taken over he always had to buy his own boots and gloves, It was the green suit with the name on he did’nt like.
Cheers…John

I was travelling in my car, pulled off the M5 at Tewksbury towards Evesham, and pulled in to the cafe which is called a service area, I think it was called the vale cafe, I was expecting a good wholesome meal which they used to do years ago, but I was dis-appointed, all there was, allday breakfast, gammon & chips or new potatoes, and burger& chips, glad I am retired if thats what they are serving to lorrydrivers now a days, and two meals cost over £15, do not think drivers of today will live as long as us, eating that every day, a case of heart attack or freezer stomach. :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

The Vale used to be one of the best, but the rot set in as soon as Nigel left.

Hi Norm,
Used to go in that place myself, but it’s not what it used to be. Last time I was in there about five years ago the owner and one driver had a row about his meal, another got up and left his, needless to say I haven’t called since.
Cheers Dave.

Dave, I think it will be a long time before I use it again, what is that First cafe on the A40 like, we saw it has I had gone by.

Where abouts on the A40 Norm

If you had pulled off and gone through Tewkesbury up the A38 towards the M50 Norm, you would have come to the Pidgeon Flyer which is in a layby before you get to the M50.
Cheers Dave.

Lads I know the old pidgeon cafe, tried it on the way down, it shuts at about 2.30, I pulled up and it was closed, my wife checked the time on the door, we had a good dinner there in 2006, Dave the First cafe is one of the old place that closed down and a new place built near Symond yat, on the lefthandside as you leave Monmouth, I just saw it as I flew past, I wondered what it was like, from the outside it looked modern.

Hi Norm,
Was a cafe there, now just a fuel stop and a Spar shop, there is one back up the road near the Herefoord turnoff called the highway star, don’t know what it’s like,it used to be a little chef. There’s not a lot on the A40 going into Wales. There’s a good cafe in Llandovery called the westend, always a lot of moterbikes outside in the summer, car park opposite if it’s full up in front.
Cheers Dave.
