I take it from your post you also hold a PCV licence■■?
The reason I ask is that the Driver CPC isn’t introduced till Sept 2009 for LGV so any training carried out before will not count
LOL…I was waiting for an instructor to come along and say it, TBH I thought it would be ROG first
Have started the NVQ course today…this will help in preperation for the Driver CPC so we have been told? I am hoping one of you guys will confirm/deny this…
Have been given a load of boomph to read…great stuff.
Not gonna refuse it as we dont have to pay for it, the firm are doing it. And we get paid while learning…

I believe there are parts of the NVQ course that can be accreditted to the Periodic driver CPC as long as the provider is CPC registered.
You might be as well to check with your NVQ provider to confirm or deny the above.
I would like to know the outcome, if it is cross-accreditted, as to how many cpc hours worth
And you get this all for FREE and get PAID - you lucky [ZB]

I filled in an application for Langdons I think and that was one of the questions.
What have you gained towards your cpc so I am glad you cleared that up for me .
I answered that I have done an ADR course if that helps but after sending it I thought my answer made me seem confused which I am. Should just have left it blank as I got a knock back.

Firstly my apologies for stealing ROG’s thunder
NVQ’s seem to be the way many companies are going- even better for them as it’s government funded so the employer don’t pay either
I have no idea which part(s) will be CPC compliant ( I understand some will)but best of luck
Never know that and an ADR course you could be sorted for 5 years

Nvq’s have no relation to driver CPC.
There is no funding for driver CPC and funding for the NVQ cannot be used for driving licences or driver CPC.
There are some companies going around selling free driver cpc training of the back of the funding for NVQ but this might not be legal.
There is a famous case of a company called Carter & Carter who had to pay back millions to the goverment because the claims for funding where being fiddled.
You could find that you never see these training companies again once they have completed the NVQ

So what happens if, for example, 14 hours worth of NVQ is accreditted across for the cpc - is that not cpc funding by the back door
Well if thats gonna be the case I ain’t gonna fret too much, at the end of the day I gotta get CPC so if it aint done the right way then my company gotta pay twice, I will let them know…thanks for the pointer burnie
i did my nvq 12 months ago,my company had been led to believe it would count towards the cpc,but after we had finished the course they found out this was not the case.no training of any kind taken before sept will count towards your cpc.so my company is holding back on any future training until then.to be honest the nvq is not worth the paper its written on,mind you it got me off nights for 2 shifts and the sandwichs that they laid on were very nice.

Could well have been,
We have a customer at Sutton Courtenay that we deliver all over the hampshire, wales and south west area for…
Did you flash me■■?
NVQ = No Viable Qualification!!
What a complete waste of time and money - that includes the driver CPC as well.
Companies and drivers would benefit far more by putting drivers through advanced driver courses - such as those run by Scania many years ago.
Quite how sitting in a classroom listening to some idiot who probably cant even climb into a truck, let alone drive one babbling on about all manner of pontless crap will be of benefit I really cant imagine.

from
Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training (JAUPT)
NVQ Route to the Driver CPC
How can N/SVQs support the Initial Driver CPC?
We are currently working with DSA, DfES and the LSC to explore ways in which the N/SVQs can support the Driver’s CPC. By aligning the content of N/SVQs with the requirements of the Driver’s CPC, it makes it possible for there to be some overlap in training e.g. achievement of the Initial CPC could provide evidence towards the NVQ.How can N/SVQs support periodic training?
Only training courses approved by the JAUPT can be counted towards periodic training. If courses have been developed to deliver training for aspects of N/SVQ that meet all the requirements for course approval (e.g. in terms of contact time, content linked with the directive) then these can be submitted for approval in the same way as other courses. In this way centres can use courses to deliver training that meets the needs of the N/SVQs and periodic training at the same time

NVQDriving Goods Vehicles Level 2 - 03564
The OCR Level 2 NVQ in Driving Goods Vehicles is designed to provide those who already work as Goods Vehicle drivers (or those working towards their licence) with evidence of their driving ability.
Designed with the needs of the Goods Vehicle industry in mind, it allows candidates to demonstrate competence in:
Pre-driving checks (including the use of tachographs) and monitoring the loading of goods
Driving skills whilst driving a goods vehicle that is laden with their typical load
Driving safely with acceptable wear and tear on the vehicle
Unloading goods vehicles, coupling and uncoupling vehicles.
Full details about the OCR Level 2 NVQ in Driving Goods Vehicles can be found in the Specification.
