At this driving lark about six months now and really enjoying it.Now the one thing really starting to annoy me is the way drivers are completely obsessed with other peoples business. From what this driver or that driver done or said or what work the boss allegedly has or lost,or why is that driver on that run and im not,not to mention the childish talk behind everyone’s back.I’ve worked in a few different industries and trucking people are far and away worse at this crap than anyone else.why cant they just get on with the work in front of them for that day and worry about tomorrow when it comes.I remember a local man here used to say “mind your own business and one day you might have a business of your own to mind”.And don’t get me started on the endless moaning(irony is not lost on me).
Most companies have them mate. I was on car transporters in the 80’s for Tolemans and we had a bloke on there always whining about why is he going there and why has he got a more powerful truck than me and so on. Then I went on tankers and the running sheet was posted on the board for every shift and this one bloke would scrutinise what run everyone else had and moaning if it was shorter than his. Human nature it’s called and some are more bothered about others than their own lives.
Best advice I could give you is ignore them, half the crap they spout about the loss or gains of work is hearsay or something they make up in any case. Go in, do your job and go home again…don’t get involved in all the ■■■■■■■■.
Has been going on since the industry began. Just made worse now by unlimited phone packages and social media. Years ago if one of your trucks had an accident in Manchester you’d hear about it when you get back to the yard, now it’s on Faceache and every drivers had a call about it within ten minutes
I think you get this kind of person at every workplace. A polite word in their ear if they try it with you should sort them out.

As mentioned above, every place has got one.
The one at ours stamps his feet and kicks off because somehow in his little petty mind, he genuinely believes no matter what run he’s on, what vehicle he’s been given, the boss is shafting him one way or another.
Constantly trying to cause annamosity between other drivers. Reckons this week will be his last and when he sees the boss in the morning he’s going to tell him where to stick his job etc. He’s been saying this on a nightly basis for the last two years.
Turns up to work at least 30 mins early for his shift just to nosey through everyone else’s run sheets, when he gets back to the yard he is practically climbing up the bosses arse on a daily basis.
I know he’s all ■■■■ and wind and don’t even speak to the prick, but it does grate on you after a while, listening to constant bleating all the time.
That’s the problem with this industry, full of pricks.
everywhere I have worked has had at least one, from 50 drivers to just 4, last time I had one sh*t stirring (when covering for the normal guy who routes them, he was on holiday), I basically told him it that f’all to do with him what anyone else is doing and concentrate on his own job (he is a god guy except for this annoying habit) - came to me and asked me if it was still a weeks notice to leave, yup, I replied and wandered off - still here a year later
Can concur with pretty much everyone else!
Had a guy at one firm, before he even said hello to you he was asking what run you were on. And even when you knew full well his run was better or easier than yours, he’d still moan about you having that run!! Total Bellend.

Here you go, you do it and I’ll do yours usually shuts them up.
I know who to avoid and who to talk to at work. The ones who I talk with and have a laugh with are normally the older hands. Couple of decent younger ones but the others I wouldn’t trust. They are under the impression that grassing up your mate is the best way to the top. We are all in the same job, doing the same job. Our firm encourages it by everyone on different rates of pay and telling you not to discuss your rates with anyone. So everyone hates each other, its pathetic really.
same everywhere, i like posting on facebook where i am (but i’m not) just too annoy the (zb), normally causes a bit of commotion when i put a ferry port or places local to yard, roll on next year when i come off the road and start driving the traffic desk lol

■■■■■■■■ is an art perfected by truck drivers mate, it’s always been the same.
I could not give a flying ■■■■ what Tom ■■■■ or Harry is doing or what runs they are on, but some need to know where everybody else is going, and spend their entire day on the phone finding out.
I simply could not be arsed.
I tend to have fun with these guys by feeding them complete ■■■■■■■■, which they invariably go on to repeat.
I just tend to keep myself to myself, and am selective who I mix with on the firm.
I also find you can use these guys to your own advantage if you want somebody to know something, because you can be sure as hell confident they will pass it on to the appropriate person, including the boss, which can also come in handy. .
When I’d been at my place 6 months I had our driver trainer approach me and ask if everything was alright and if I had issues with anyone.
Someone had complained because I didn’t make an effort to speak to them.
Grown man upset because another grown man had no interest in them.
Been here 2 years now only speak to a few others as acquaintance couldn’t tell you any of their names.
If you want to hear olympic gold medal standard whining go on the car transporters where its partly piece work paid, you’ll never believe it till you hear it for yerself, nor could you imagine the skullduggery employed to get the best work, sad buggers.
In every company there’s a handful that should you see them walking across the yard making a bee line for you, your heart just sinks
And the other sort who don’t want to speak to you, the very first and sometimes the only words to pass their lips ‘where you going’.

Theres a lot of them on this forum!!!
Had this at Earthline, all because I split my breaks and didn’t stop with the others. Stupid CB chat and people shouting out that I’d stopped for a 15 and then strangely enough the office would ring and ask why I’d parked up. They even told me that “one of your own workmates rang and told us you keep stopping.”
We have one that jumps from job to job because he thinks the grass is greener. He only wants something because someone else has it then when he gets it he doesn’t want it so we get lumbered with him again

There ARE a lot…
I agree, theres a few on every firm…its mainly because they lead lonely lives, and partially because they dream of being a woman ( some are actually closet trannys, they dream of the days when mum would lean over the garden fence and natter about the neighbours…i love it when i am the newboy in the yard, and everyone ignores me like i have the plague, and it stays like that until they approach me…all i want to do is get in the truck, get out on the road for a days work, then park up or return and get home, thats my priority and i couldnt give a ■■■■ what others are doing what they done at the weekend, or whatever until such times as it suits me, but if they have nothing constructive to say ( which is at most times ) i am not interested.
Not just trucking. Think any job has people like that.
