Anyone got a picture of S S Bayliss from Wrexham? He used to run an ancient MAN about 12 years ago, think he was based near the back of the (Wrexham) industrial estate.

Would say that is the sugar loaf recognise that road very well A few of the shotton and oswestry lads would use that route but generally it was the leominster brecon road mid wales was not good for roads or snack vans thankyou trevor

Hi Trevor, the red and cream ones are Cecil S Allen, I think he’s based by Kelly’s scrapyard up in them there hills! Bayliss had a plain red MAN, I’m pretty sure it was about a 1977 model but stand to be corrected.

thankyou so much for those williams bros pics,its like travelling back in time.williams bros were such a big part of my childhood.i was hoping to get some replies from drivers who might have remembered or worked with my dad,arnold roberts,he drove out of queensferry 1950-1970,shunting on mostyn dock then moved into the office as transport manager till he died 1983.i would really like copies of these fotis,would that be ok/if theres a way.thankyou again,made my day.mostyn.

Hello cavlad thats right a scrapyard at legacy towards johnstown havent seen one for some time several years ago thay had an 8 wheeler on scrap offcuts from i think metalbox for s wales thomas bros out of salop road was doing the same work thank you trevor

Yes that Shones Volvo was taken on the Sugar Loaf on the A483 . This was taken on the cut off route between Beulah and Newbridge as i remember .

From what I remember…it was near the Trap pond, were North Wales Timber used to be in Buckley, I have a few photos I will post once I get my scanner working , from firms such as Clive Shone, Pete Willoghby, and Harris Road Services etc, all from @ 1978. Regards
