North Wales Haulage company's

Hello,Charlie.I think you may be having a bit of a mix up moment between white knight and roadrunner there

Gaz-just trying to remember who had the 2nd Sed Atk at Brian’s.Was it Alan (Aspro)?

hello sir, hope your well’ yes david white knight was john roadrunner. i was with white knight at chester when a gang started on him by chester on night out . what a mess he was in . i went with him in ambulance . even now cannot understand why ,he was last person to up set anyone and he had not. we were just in wrong place. wrong time. was alun hughs at brians cheers both

I remember Dafydd being in hospital in a bad way after that incident. As you say, never a troublemaker.Lots of rumours flying about at the time as to what actually happened. If you mean Alun Hughes from Anglesey-then,yes he was with Brian for a reasonable while.I worked with Martin, his son, until fairly recently.Nice to see the Bangor and Anglesey firms being remembered.Got a few pics of Brian and Mick’s lorries.Somewhere  .

I spoke reguarly to a chap that drove an F86 on Pritchards usually in the Shamrock nr. Wellington, he had dark hair and black rim glasses, I’m sure his name was Brian. There was another guy who drove an 88 I spoke to, he had the handle “fishing float” on the cb.

hi sir, yes there was a bit more to the daffyd but i wouldnot say on here. really enjoying pictures coming on . as i have said on here before i had somegreat times north wales and anglesey. we had reunion 3 months ago and both the drivers from anglesey came down i e john fire fly and david pilgrim.when you look back it sad both pritchards and r j roberts have gone. i dont get up coast at all now just liverpool every day.

hi trevor what was your handle on C B . I CAN REM you coming through shrewsbury, my handle was midnight cowboy on mj parry cheers charlie

Hi, I was just big trev on the cb !, who ran the green big j wagon and drag cattle truck ? he gave me a lift down the A5 one night to Shrewsbury when I left the lorry for repairs at Chirk, I’m sure he was from Yokleton/Pontsbury area.
There was also a lad from Llangefni who went down the A5 at night with an 88 pulling a triple deck sheep trailer.
Happy days.

Charlie,Trev.Sorry to ■■■■ in.
Charlie-the Dafydd story is best left where it is.Good call,my friend. Was it yourself who mentioned another old firm gone-Parry’s transport? Two firms round here seem to still be doing ok-- H F Owen from Bethel and D W Parry from Anglesey.Hope we don’t see them on here anytime soon, except as a success.

Trev-Gaz and/or his dad will know exactly who those Pritchard’s drivers were(and a bit more besides!)

Take care.

thanks sir and gaz keep in touch this north wales thread going great tell gaz i worked for m j parry thanks both.

Heres another Shones motor, GTU 263N, driven by Trevor Antrobus, aka Amos

can anyone remember shones when they had a AEC mammoth major and Atkinson 8 wheeleers . They had tent tarpaulins to protect the steel when it was wet. Last time i saw a Shones wagon was at austin rover swindon thank you Trevor

Trevor, before my time, I go back to 1974 when they had Borderers etc, I know Mike Shone has lots of pictures of the early years trucks, I must see if I can borrow them to post.

Hi Steelboyf10
I remember Shones fleet very well ,I lived in the lane end Buckley and their trucks passed most days ,they had a good mixed fleet.I remember their F86 8 legger brick carrier always looked immaculate.
Did Amos only have one eye? seam to remeber him drinking in the Lane End Club.Used to know a lad that went to Shones to serve his time as a fitter but cannot remember his name(too much aluminium) .
They had a very nice F88 with a day cab very rear in this neck of the woods in them days.
Wish I had had a camera when I was a lad as there was a lot of trucks running in and out of the brickyards when Shones were on the roads.
