can anyone remember shones when they had a AEC mammoth major and Atkinson 8 wheeleers . They had tent tarpaulins to protect the steel when it was wet. Last time i saw a Shones wagon was at austin rover swindon thank you Trevor

So here’s a story for you, after speaking to dad today turns out this truck was his!
Brian Pritchard and Mick Pritchard ordered 2 each at the time in 1 batch and dad was given one new whilst driving for Brian…
Dad then left Brian to drive for Mick and was given this one as his first motor there, with the “Postman” having the other. Dad told me him and Postman were chatting on the CB fully freighted up Heartshed Moor way when two likely lads in F12 asked em to move over and let them by, Dad and Postman duly pulled away leaving the F12’s standing… apparently there was some go in them 290’s!

I spent a few nights in that SK too, although even as an 8 yr old i was a wasn’t too keen on that one when the full width SK arrived in the yard (1644 D211UJC)

Incedentally that SK appears to have had a drive axle blowout if you look carefully!

hi gaz, those 290 would fly i had 250 sedd new which was ok. then one driver left and i had his 290 . ist load went up corley bank in top 40 cattle on they just kept pulling.i rem postman on micks well and i new white knight john and his son tony well on brians , imust have run wihh your dad cheers charlie
