Another 112
And tucked up next to it is one of Richard Ford’s, a left ■■■■■■ 3300 DAF, one of a canceled Turkish order that eveyone seemed to have, driven by Keith James.

I didn’t work there mate I worked for Dawson Freight but knew most of Normans drivers from Ludwigshafen. I still see Keith every now and then he still works part time at Batley tankwash, as for ginger he was a good friend but I’ve not seen him for years he eventually retired and as far as I know he’s still in BlackpoolI saw more of ginger when he left Normans the first time and went for TankTrans at Tyldesley Manchester though that didn’t last long and he went back to Normans and took Johnny Hope with him now sadly deceased I believe.
Hiya ovlov. It is Keith Grimshaw you see at LPG. Keith Simpson was from Balderton nr Newark and had his own complicated rules for 5’s & 3’s
Keith, (Simmo) is still doing a bit of relief for Bertschi, but he is retired too. Ginger retired and didnt want to see another lorry
I also believe Steve Shearer has retired through ill health although I saw him a couple of years ago going into Swiss.
Was Tanktrans mixed up with Danny Williams?
ovlov:
Couple more chaps
Thats a pig of a trailer. I used that 4 potter for a short time while my own tank was in Hobur for a refurb.
were those 3 axle 112s pictured double drives, or just tags with little clearance on the wings chaps? ta
They were tags J…Cant think of who owned Tanktrans I know the names they just wont come to me at the mo…Probably best not to really nudge nudge wink wink say no more There was another lad wen to from Normans to tanktrans big lad with glasses cant think of his name …he got killed in Italy I think run over going back to the truck if I’m not mistaken he was at PTS at the time had a white 113>

I can mention Ronnie Hennesy cos I have moved house 5 times
One of Rons drivers Alan Ashcroft from Bolton moved to Normans and is back there after a spell at Premier Tankers / Howarth Bros.
I can’t remember the PTS driver who was killed either. I am aware of the NLT driver called Richard who was killed in Italy. I didnt know him but have since met his sister. Italy may have been a bad omen for us as another real nice bloke from Colne died of a heart attack on the top of the Blanc. I think the company almost closed on the day of his funeral. there were about 12 drivers and all the garage staff had a day off to attend the service.
As RD said, it was a sound job and I would go back tomorrow if they went back on the continent. We were often slagged off but there were many people wanted to work there and most of Harold Woods / Tankfreight drivers ended there driving careers with Norman.
The interesting thing was that if you went away for a fortnight, you could meet 3 new drivers in training who had all left by the time you got back from a trip. Some could not cope, some should never have been given a licence
I earnt a load of money, bought a house and 2 new cars and never even smuggled an ounce of tobacco

I WORKED AT LEWIS’S TWICE BACK IN MID 80’S THEN AGAIN EARLY 90’S IT WAS A GREAT PLACE TO WORK AND THERE WERE SOME GREAT CHARACTERS, MANNIE, JEFF, BUTCHER, JOE CRAVEN, TOMMY VARLEY, JONNY HOPE, DEANO , SELWYN, GINGER, BOTH KEITHS AND SOME GOOD LADS IN THE GARAGE i WAS ONLY 25 WHEN I STARTED BUT GAINED A LOT OF EXPERIENCE THERE, ESPECIALLY THE SOCIAL SIDE OF THINGS, HOW TO ORDER DRINK IN MANY LANGUAGE’S AND ALOT OF OTHER THINGS. WE ALSO WORKED HARD TOO
What happened to Lewis’s in the end, seem to have lost track of them. Always seen them in Europe late 80’s onwards.
