I am glad I am no longer driving trucks for a living, today I had to go from Troon down to Swadlincote to pick something up so went via the M74, M6 and nigh on every where else. The weather was atrocious, traffic very heavy and roadworks nigh on everywhere it was a right pain in the arse so decided to come back up via the A1 an A66 only to see the matrix signs state A1 closed after Grantham but it wasn’t but the A1/A66 exit was so yet another detour!!! All in all a 660 mile run that took 13.5 hours in a BMW with indicators. Glad we dont get traffic queues at sea … You have my utmost sympathy !!

What do you think of the viability of coastal ferry services along the lines of Sheerness-Hull-Dundee and Sheerness-Portsmouth-Plymouth.Avonmouth-Liverpool-Cairnryan ?.
So you left Troon, to go to swadlincote. And the matrix signs said A1 closed at Grantham. How did that affect your journey, unless they’ve moved Derbyshire.
Sorry if I’ve stated the obvious.
I guess from swad he went 42, m1 , a1 , 66 , I guess if you’ve had a nightmare comming down you’ll look for alternatives
Not long ago I did East Kilbride- Dagenham , everyone bar me went m74 , m6 , m1 m25 etc , I went m74 , a66 , a1 a14 , m11 , n/c , I got rang up asking why I’d gone that way , I.m.h.o less likely a hold up ( on m6/ m1 ) , according to bloke on phone it was unnecessary mileage , maybe it’s longer I’ve no idea
But he never rang again and apologised when I got to Dagenham and my mates were hours behind after getting held up on m6 , I got reloaded that night , they didn’t
I guess that’s Raymond’s thinking , and would the route I guess he took take any longer doing 80/90 in a bmw , I doubt therd be much in it

Only 10 mile more coming back, 80/90 ■■? bit more than that (allegedly,) but the fuel return with this 520d is crap, should have stayed with the 3lr or more time for a remap …

I bet you’re still courteous to other road users too.
I do try to be irrelevent of the make of vehicle I’m driving …
I now drive a Range Rover Sport and no longer give a toss about anyone else.
i know how you feel, and the fact you used indicators didnt help, thats what caused the traffic jams…was the drivers refusing to believe you were using them, probably ran back to the vehicle behind to tell the driver Here mate, did you see that Beemer driver with indicators that actually work
.
My girlfriend had just bought a new BMW, and phoned me one night to say she had problems with the car, said it wont drive, something wrong with the gearbox…so i couldnt do anything and told her to phone the RAC, when they turned up, and asked what was wrong, she said the gearbox had a fault, it was ok during the day on the way to work, but now that its dark it wont go…the engineer asked once again what exactly did you do…she said, well this morning i put it in D
as usual everything was fine…but i finished work late tonight and started the car, put it into N
for night driving, and it wont move, but the engine revs ok…bloody blondes eh !!
I would wonder if I were you how your ‘blonde’ girlfriend earned enough money to buy a new Beemer ■■?
Anyway I dont like the one I have just bought cos it’s only 2 litre (177hp) and a hard work type gear changing manual…
