Night time rules

The ‘Friday Rule’, as far as I’m aware, is still in place and has not been upgraded or updated. This rule only applies to driver’s heading for any of the West Coast ports for the last sailing to Belfast from whatever part of the Country you are in and whatever time you have set off, also if your route happens to pass your front door you are allowed to have a reduced weekly rest in yer own bed.

Well hang on a minute. Friday night/Saturday morning and going for the boat rule warrant a whole chapter in ‘the guide’.

Can I be the first to mention that it’s legal to ■■■■ against the nearside wheel, it’s in the blaggers manual. Page 7, paragraph 4, line 6.

You are certainly right there Mr Plambert  I was just trying to keep things kinda simple for some of the folks on here :exclamation: The ‘Friday Rule’ is probably more complicated than the whole EU Tachograph rules in their entirety :exclamation: Even though I had to fall back onto the ‘FR’ more times than I care to remember during my 3 tours of duty for DUKE’S Transport over a 20 yr period :sunglasses: I’ve never come across an enforcement officer who has been able to find any serious problems with my record keeping or was it my brother’s record keeping, can’t remember now for sure it’s soooo long ago

Which wheel? I ■■■■■■ up a nearside trailer wheel the other day and I’m a bit worried it should have been one on the tractor units.

Friday Night Rule ?
Ferry rule ?

If in doubt - flat out .

Of course the FNR - as we can now call it - can be enforced any day of the week, at the drivers discretion !

Check your blaggers manual, it’s all there. if you need to ask then maybe you don’t have a copy. By a happy coincidence I have a spare copy I’d be happy to pass to you for the princely sum of £40, or 40 Euro if you plan on paying after 23rd June.

Is the Sunday morning go around the roundabout the wrong way option still in force?

Only when there’s an ‘R’ in the month.

Did they teach you lot nothing in the DCPC :unamused:

Awww crap. I’ve already done it once this month.

Any idea what the punishment is Rob? I heard a whisper that I would have to be Desypete’s 2nd man for the day, but I know that’s ■■■■■■■■ because he doesn’t have his DCPC.

Daylight hours are obviously a lot different in mid June than mid December so it’s probably safest to take a mean average between the two. While on a similar basis,at night the non use of the outside lane of a three lane motorway is changed to only allowing the straddling of lanes 1 and 2 or lanes 2 and 3 IE 3 lanes divided equally. Take your pick of which ones you straddle and you can alternate between straddling lanes 1 and 2 or lanes 2 and 3 but whatever you do don’t use any one single lane because that is considered by the law as being worse than using the outside lane during daytime. It all gets a lot more complicated in the case of four lane motorways though.Where you only have the option of straddling lanes 1 and 2 or lanes 2 and 3 thereby effectively creating the same rule at night as daylight hours although in June it is obviously technically night after sunrise and before sunset by the law of averages.

The law states you can overtake at night when there’s a full moon, the only exception being if you have your lights on but that uses more fuel :open_mouth:

I can’t be sure. Is Carryfast serious, or is he being sarcastic??
