At what time do the night time rules start and finish.
At 5min to 5 this morning i did not know weather to over take a car in outside lane of m1 as it was close to 5 oclock ,i thought if i go for it he would go faster and ide be out the after 5 what would you do cos i dont think a couple min would make any difrence

Night time rules
Legally HGVs are not allowed in the outside lane of a motorway with 3 or more lanes at any time of day or night.
I’m not even going to bother…

I’m in two minds about the likes of him. On the one hand they drag our profession down, confirm our reputation to the public, and they help keeping our wages down.
on the other hand, as long as the likes of him are around, I will never struggle to get work.

No night time ban anymore, you crack on son.
I think you’re confusing the overnight rules with Friday rules
Even if night time rules DID apply, its five minutes ffs.
Get your arse in lane 3 and your foot down.
All academic anyway since as soon as you start to get level with the car he’ll decide your not passing and will proceed to put HIS foot down and zoom off.
Either very inexperienced, very stupid or both.
Possibly on a wind up.
Crack on mate, a new law was passed last week.
3rd lane use for HGVs started at midnight last wednesday, except Christmas day, and Whit Sunday…so fill yer boots…
Just heard that the word ‘gullible’ has been removed from the dictionary, can you check it out for me.
Can I nominate this for post of the year.

At last Rob!! Someone on my wavelength!
So with night time rules, am I offside if I undertake?

If your that good why you looking for work
I’m curious to know why you’d be able to overtake a car in the outside lane. Was it lane hogging next to another vehicle?
If so, and at a much slower speed than me I’d have probably gunned it around them if the road was quiet.

If it was just a lane higher in middle Lane with nothing in lane 1 I just stream past them in lane 1. Cautiously, keep a good eye on them but it’s the easiest thing to do.

This is a tricky one and a bit of a beard scratcher.
I would normally say they are valid until day light but there should be some daylight saving criteria for this time of year.
After consulting the blaggers manual - which is on it twelfth edition - 5am is on the limit. Or as the French translation puts it ‘sur la rim’. Which, be coincidence describes my work ethic.
Of course if it can be done with your eyes closed, it never happened at all.
Hope this sorts the issue for you.
