New MSA on M4 Swindon

There’s a need for it.

Sounds like a similar design to Gloucester services on the M5!!!

Although its probably not needed, as you have Membury to the east, Chippenham truck stop and Leigh Delamere to the west!!!

Swindon Truckstop enters the chat#

Yep just what we need,.another overpriced crap hole stuck in between two other overpriced crap holes 30 miles or so either end,

Another crap hole that does not really want trucks but only provides for them (term used loosely) because they have to by law.

Money would be better spent on a proper designated truckstop in an area where one is needed, but that ain’t going to happen

I’ll maybe use it if I need the bog or a shower, but like every other MSA I wont be overnighting in there , as I have a strong aversion to being ripped by being charged for a second class service for a first class price.,.SNAP or not, it’s the principle.

Or a free coffee !!!
I’ve principles rob as most people have but if the company pay for parking why wouldn’t you use them , as for crap food , I see no difference between our local m&s/ Waitrose than the ones at services , if your going to use your £10 food voucher at Burger King / kfc that’s more a driver choice , as above there are healthy options .
I’ve a very good mate who refuses to use services because of the crap food , then orders a takeaway every night from one of those delivery people
Nb I’ve not nighted out for 8 months so assume you still get food vouchers / you can use them at m&s / Waitrose

Good , at least it’s not the Baldock , p/bro & Cambridge where you don’t get a meal voucher , I much prefer a moto/ rugby where you get the £10 voucher ( never parked there so assume I’m correct ) & something ( m&s ) healthy to eat , rather than the greasy piled high ( quick heart attack ) you get at most truck stops
Though looking at the state( belts at breaking point ) of 99% of drivers I seem in a minority in my views on healthy eating , 4 sauges / 4 slices for of bacon ,hash browns , black pudding , 4 rounds of toast etc etc etc seems to be what most drivers think is healthy or 2x bacon / sausage rolls & 4 pastry sausage rolls from greggs , how they move for the rest of the day is beyond me .
This morning I had a porridge & a bottle of water from home for breakfast , take note you fat ■■■■■■■

Not sure why the M3 hasn’t been extended all the way to Taunton or Exeter to get rid of the A303 with its single to dual carriageways then the pinch points in the little hamlets that slow it all down to a crawl?

With a fast and direct link from London to Exeter it would benefit the local economies all along the route as pit stops , hotels and better facilities could be built by exiting the new motorway or construct them on it.

It would improve journey times from London to Devon and Cornwall.

If a capital city and a major tourist destination was in Europe they would have built a motorway link 50 years ago but not in old Blighty where we are literally 50 years behind the times and so slow with everything.

Other countries have had their high speed trains since the 60’s in Japan with their bullet train, and France with TGV, Spain with AVE with their excellent reliability and on time service.

A bus boulevard in Swindon is supposed to take two years at a cost of 33 million, it will now be delayed due to the discovery of underground pipes and cables , this will increase the cost and delay the works.

The new project won’t have precipitation protection for passengers, no taxi rank and buses won’t be stopping there but you will get some new trees to look at.

A new railway bridge in Bradford on Avon, expected to take five months but now a year due to the weather, the wrong pour of concrete.

We are rubbish at everything in this country.

Here you go rob , looks like I’ve been stiched up with a 15 first day back from a 2 week holiday so a long day I’ll need a snack , had my porridge earlier so as a mid morning snack I’m having strawberries & cream from the services ( m&s ) , I know from reading your posts over the years your more a greggs / Burger King type of bloke , but you don’t have to be , try to follow my example

Just off J16, to the South East is a rather large travellers site . . . just saying like

And can we have a collection for poor Dozy so he can get a decent meal today instead of the usual Ginsters and Fanta combo

:open_mouth: You cheeky git doze.
NEVER touch BK or MaccyDs, …apart from coffees that is…(the odd bacon sarnie from Gregg’s, but not very often,.have to be clamming before I get one.
The drawer in my Actros is always full of fresh fruit, and lately my fridge has had it’s share of salads in there for my tea.
My only weakness is that I enjoy a beer,.either with my salad…or whatever (healthy) meal my lovely Mrs has prepared for me to microwave, or if/when I head up the town when parked up…

So you’re way off bud…my body is a temple (ok maybe an old ish one in ruins  ) but I do watch what I eat tbf.

done right itll be a proper gold mine! done wrong well we know what the result is

The M3 goes from London to Southampton so please tell how is it possible to extend it west

New site on the cards for m25.

Colne Valley Motorway Service Area Ltd as the applicant makes it sound like an independent operator but I guess it might still be tied in with one.of the big players. Must need some deep pockets to put something like this into operation.

Ffs an area severely devoid of suitable overnight truck parking.
Their answer?..
Build another ■■■■ MSA. :unamused:

All this verbal dog ■■■■ during the ‘driver shortage’ highlight period from the Govt…
.‘We’re going to build proper facilities for UK ttuckers to make the job attractive’’ …(not MORE attractive btw,.just attractive. :bulb: )

So surely.a proper large designated TRUCKSTOP would be more appropriate,…or am I missing summet here. :unamused:

End day there just build motorway services anyware that has high traffic volumes. So they can make money from Greggs McDonald’s etc.
Profit is all they care about.
Then they can say look we have created1000s more Hgv parking spaces no doubt get funding towards it.
Doesn’s matter that spaces will more than likely be down south as post above around the M25 etc.
When more spaces are needed up north and Scotland way.
But they can’t make a profit building up there. High footfall iand profits is all they care about

Hmm, meanwhile if they look behind them from that viewpoint of the glorious countryside…

Though perhaps that is fine as it’s only temporary.

To be fair MOTO aren’t the worst. If it’s like Rugby you can’t grumble too much by MSA standards, the facilities are alright.

I don’t worry about the parking charges, that’s for the gaffer to worry about. It’s not my battle to fight.

As long as they create anti caravan and anti car with trailer parking then all’s good. That really winds me up when you pull in needing your break and some prick and their freinds sat ueating a MacDonalds in their car in a lorry space.
