If I have not misunderstood, you went from Barnsley to Bucarest and then being unable to stay, drove to
Germany instead of the Czech Republic before you contacted base?
They sent you to Milan from Germany where you finally picked up a revenue paying collection?
Then, after successfully collecting two boxes on the way to Paris, you were unable to complete the second collection.
Then you delivered the load to Dublin and returned to Barnsley.
Now they can’t find the two boxes from France.
I imagine the cost of fuel, ferries and tunnels was enormous, for what seems to have
finished up as 3 collections from Northern Italy and one from France for delivery to Dublin.
I am sorry you hurt your foot and wish you a speedy recovery.

Yes this is correct as had no phone after Germany only delivery address for Czeh Republic & felt unsafe to sleep across seats of a sprinter in the middle of Bucurest ( advice from 3 other drivers see above )

3 collections in Italy then 2 in France 1 they refused to load me after several call made to customers boss in Barnsley etc came away

This is correct

Yep I can appreciate this but with no map no phone or any other aids yep I could have turned round as soon as I realised maybe that is what I should have done looking back
Yep 3 in Italy & 1 in France
I am sorry you hurt your foot and wish you a speedy recovery.
Its a long way to any border from Bucaresti & to the German one you have to cross Hungary & Czech…loooooong way. I’m missing something here…take a deep breath & a spell-check & maybe I can get an idea of the route? Drive down the Italian route in France to get to Austria…OK?? Anyway they could have printed out a route for you… & the French forkie was well out of order.Look on the bright side, you got six months EU driving experience in less than a week (?)
Looking back, you had a baptism of fire!Don’t let it put you off,if you go with a normal company & someone to show you the ropes it will be a doddle.Hope you got your money.
Can someone explain why there was no attempt made to make a phone call from Romania ■■ They do have em !
And why not simply buy a map from a garage ? German autohofs have stacks of em.
On the flip side I think you should have been given another trip as you obviously had a very steep learning curve on your first !! But then it sounds like the others aren’t being paid properly so may be your better off out of it.
Did look for a map & a place where they might have a sat nav but to no avail
Sorry but didnt think to change money as wasnt going to be stopping in Romania
Have done some EU before just not that far down
Yep I made some mistakes sorry for being human & I done what I thought best at the time
Knew my phone worked in Germany so headed for there as thought that was the best thing to do & not go into another country where I had no route or anything else for apart from collection addresses
Yes I did learn a lot & now better equiped if when I do go again have a map ( thanks you know who you are ) my phone is now sorted so if I do cross the border into Austria it will work
Sorry for not sleeping across the seat of a sprinter on the street of Bucurest with no facilities ok had cooker & food but being a 4’ 10" female & reading some of the advice on here & what my 3 other work colleague had said if you read some of the replies you would of course know this how would you feel if it was your wife / partner etc
I did this job at very short notice 3/4 hr tbh maybe next time someone want help like that I will think again
Yes a lot of mistakes were made but think there was some fault on both sided & maybe some of the routes should have been changed but they wernt & we live & learn
If you look on a map from 2009 it shows a nice motorway running right through from Hungry to Bucuresti but dont exist as not build yet
you’ve made some mistakes, probably a years supply in one trip . but i’m sure you’ll learn from them.
my old boss said he’d always employ a tipper driver that will admit he’s rolled on a site, he’ll never do it again.
the way i’ve read it. you appear to have been so excited to get behind the wheel and drive to the arse end of europe, you didn’t think straight.
chin up. it was an experience.
Comparing the way your outfit operates & the way a pro company that I ran for 10yrs ago organises things & its a miracle you got back in one piece. We were given £400 running money to cover unforseen probs. We had a Shell card + all the A/Route cards for all of EU.We were covered by Medicare. The cab phone worked everywhere including N.AfricaWe were on a salary+ex’s ,so if we had an injury like yours we would be paid until we were fit to drive again .We aso had a complete range of clothing free.So in reality you did well to survive a 'make it up as you go along ’ first trip.
Good luck in the future.

this pallet was wrapped in black shrink wrap plain brown boxes
Hmm the more I read of this lot, the more suspect it sounds. Sorry but it simply doesn’t add up, running 1000’s of miles empty. Sounds more dodgy that the mobile phones that used to do the rounds.

Its a high value load so its not unusual to have it in black shrinkwrap.

No Idea Harry, I’m just the monkey not the organ grinder.
OK, tell the organ grinder that he is seriously taking the ■■■■ if he expects anyone to drive to Romania and back in one of these.
Think he already knows been telling him since we started that they not fit for the job. New ones are on order but customer specified boxes at start of contract so this crap we have to use.
