Most stupid rules?

Here’s a good one for you. As anyone who’s driven a Renault Premium will know, they come ready equipped with an air duster in the cab. Some berk in our head office was reading an article about compressed air and how it can be dangerous if misused, so the order came down the line to remove the air dusters in case we drivers did ourselves an injury with them.

I should add that most of our lorries are bulk blowers… and unless I’m mistaken they use compressed air to discharge the load?

Hi I have just done my forklift training with Forklift Training London and I am sure that is unacceptable, opening shutters whilst driving or even on the forklift is a pure hazard I mean speak to these guys they will tell you more and I am sure they have some information about the safety rules on the counterbalance forklift

They photocopy paper licence, digi card, cpc card and licence card, they then ask you to copy the exact information onto 5 sheets of A4 and sign it 5 times, then check it again.
It is beyond logic and reason, it causes much aggravation and any driver who questions this non-sense risks being sent home by the…i can only describe some of the transport office staff as rude, ignorant morons.
Common sense doesn’t exist in this place…by the way they are after full time drivers…then you really get treated like [zb]!

Every DHL site does that think it’s called the ops 15 form, your pui sheet is called a ops 13 form, still to encounter ops 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,14 forms :laughing:

What about the universal rule for lorry drivers?
Namely, that when you give a couple of tugs on a snagged strap it WILL ALWAYS shoot back atcha and knack you EXACTLY half way between the ankle and the knee.
I’ve just been reminded of this rule 5 minutes ago.

No being able to overtake another vehicle in Belgium when it rains… This gets on my ■■■■…

No hot drinks to be taken out of the rest room in case of getting burnt by a spilt cup or you may slip over.
No drivers allowed to use the subsidised work’s canteen.

I went to a concert at the O2 in October,
I had a drink & a wee before buying a bottle of water at one of the little shops in the complex, As i went to into the hall, the security said, you can’t take that (bottle of water) in like that as it could be a ‘rolling hazard’

Yes that is pathetic. Do they still have the no overtaking during the day rule on most of the 4 lane motorways between 06:00-19:00 or whatever it is? That made the drive down to Lux painful at times. I often flouted it and was lucky enough never to get caught.

Its because when bottles are dropped on the floor and stood on without a lid on they will just crush under your foot. If it has the lid on, it wont crush and may cause someone to fall over. Its done as a precaution in case they need to evacuate the building in case of fire/emergency.

Talking of drink bottles, I remember a coach with kids onboard that crashed due to a can of Coke rolling down the aisles, it then got jammed under the pedals, the driver lost control.

We all get annoyed at H&S nonsense but it usually has a base of a reason somewhere.
This one actually makes sense though.

Excuse me if it’s been mentioned as I’ve not read all this thread but the French rule of 130kph speed limit on motorway or 100kph if raining always baffles me, what do they classify as rain ? Light drizzle ? Heavy drizzle ? What if it’s been raining but the road is drying ■■?

Come on now, there has to be a decent sized grey area to allow for overzealousness on the part of the authorities. I’ve heard that trucks in Belgium have been fined for overtaking when its not actually raining but spray is being thrown up causing the need for wipers etc.

Yeah so what classifies as rain ?

England must be the most dumbest country that conforms to anything the EU says.
It must have the most hiviz wearers, hard hats , Cctv, and traffic cones than any other country in the World.
Over the two week Xmas break, nobody was working on the average speed road works.
Why couldn’t they turn off the speed cameras if there was no danger to road workers ?
When they are working, you see twenty men stood watching a digger moves it’s bucket of dirt around.

I just had an induction at a large distibution company.
The instructor/God says to me and the other guy
“We use mainly Renaults here. We have some MAN’s but you’se wont be driving them” The reason?

And I quote

“You need to be TRAINED to drive them”

Trained? To drive an MAN? :open_mouth:
And he emphsised the trained part as if an MAN was something akin to a space shuttle
Myself and the other agency guy looked at each other in bewilderment.

Also we had to sign a form to say we had been trained to use a pallet truck. Apparently 15 yrs as a store employee at Halfords using pallet trucks all day is not good enough. I need to prove myself by moving a pallet 5 feet round a corner
