Morrison's driver

Education and guidance, don’t send pics to someone employers unless you know 100% they are in the wrong.

Maybe cost this guy his job, its not a slight F-up its a huge one for that guy. If it were one of my kids doing something like that i’d ban them from using the internet and boot their balls.

HEAR HEAR Kenny!

Dont get me wrong i’m not condoning what joshh did but did he acutally send an email? he only said in his post he will, not he has  just a thought.

You beat me to it pecjam! I’ll, isn’t have. The way I read it young Joshh was ■■■■■■■ about. There seem to be one or two highly strung individuals on here Joshh, might be an idea to think before you type next time.

I agree with Pecjam23 and Maoster on this one. Josh is a 15 year old lad who because he enjoys this forum has a chance ti interact with a group of mature, responsible adults who hopefully will help him along the way. We need to cut the young man some slack here, I mean he’s not robbing old ladies pensions or breaking into homes and cars to feed a drug habit, he’s trying to do the right thing. I might be reading this wrong, but as a father of 2 teenage boys, the youngest being almost 15 I can relate to Josh, lets hope we don’t scare the young lad away. I’m sorry Kenny but as professional drivers we are all responsible for our own actions no doubt both firms now know about this incident, as speaking from experience gaffers do read this forum (how many times have we seen the RHA popping up on here)

To be honest it makes no difference to me if he is 15 or 55 years old age.

The point is companies like Morrisons employing agency drivers won’t give the guy the benifit of the doubt he will be kicked out the door banned from returning there, espec in this economic climate. The fact also is in the New Year companies like Morrisons are going to be the only people having decent amount of work.

So the guy could be pretty much screwed.

Ive known guys working in places as agency drivers for a long time, had one incident and been kicked out the door no questions asked. One of my mates was parked and a tipper truck came by to close and took his o/s mirror off he never got there number plate and he was kicked out the door.

Its pretty hard to really judge what happend in this picture, the area is pretty exposed and near the North Sea and kinda high up, gets pretty windy up there.

My point is we don’t know what happend all we know is a Morrisons truck nearly took off the mirror of a WOS truck.

I don’t see it being profesional at all or a way to make friends and influence people running off telling tales when you don’t even know exactly what happend.

TBH is you lot where looking out for this 15 year old so much, you would be encouraging him to stay at school or go to college get a decent profesion rather than come into this industry its completly screwed and will only get worse espec in years to come when the rules change for foreign trucks doing deliveries in the UK.

I’ll send a email of complaint to morrisons containing the pictures hehe i love causing trouble

In this climate as well , well done. Some jobsworth might not even bother investigating and sack him on the spot because you like causing trouble.
Would it be so funny if you got caught out doing something you shouldn’t and got sacked …
The heavy haulage guys are just as much to blame for squeezing him.
It’s been mentioned more than once he is being purposely squeezed and you can see that in the photos.

Here is my theory…Until Joshh posted that crap he did I wasn’t interested at all in the thread because guess what. Nobody died , nobody got seriously injured , a few egos got dented.
Just another reason to toot the horn and mutter obscenities at each other then get on with it.

Dont get me wrong i’m not condoning what joshh did but did he acutally send an email? he only said in his post he will, not he has  just a thought.

I’ve had a look at the pic as i had a spare 30 seconds and unless you got very good imaging software and time/patience you cant make you the reg of the truck only the trailer number which i guess they could back track that way find out who had that trailer 5th december…but even then that one photo doesnt prove anything, but sadly as has been said before in this day and age the smallest thing and your told to sling your hook!!! :open_mouth: :exclamation:

also it was not just joshh that said send emails some other members( first page of post) did so why pick on just him he also did remove the offending post

You have a point about the Agency driver getting blattered with no recourse, BUT that is the risk of working agency, the chances are the heavy haul boys will be working for the company and if they have a decent boss he will defend them to the hilt. Sad but its a lesson learned by the agency driver, (I’m not saying thats right, but its the way it is). The majority of lads and lasses on the agency are there to gain experience, then they better learn fast as we work in a very unforgiving industry. As for young Josh, after reading the threads on this forum I believe it will make him study harder at school, and set his sights higher. I for one would encourage him to do so.

You just got to be carefull how you word things on here, i’ve learnt that in the past, your no doubt not the first and probably wont be the last!! sarcasm doesnt come out very well on text as apposed to being spoken and what might be interepreted by someone may be interepreted a different way by another person if that makes any sense!!!,

never mind we all live and learn. No one died.

Hi Joshh, well its good to see at age15 youv’e got big enough balls to come back on this forum and throw yer hands in that you might have worded your post the wrong way :unamused: :unamused:

I for one took your post as a bit of ‘tongue in the cheek, havin’ a laff’ humour’ but as I’m sure you are now aware not everyone on this forum has any kind of sense of humour and finds it difficult to see outside their own little “professional bubble”. You were not the only one who had said about sending an email to ‘Morrisons’ but you seem to have taken the biggest slap for saying it!
Just take it as a lesson learned and keep on learning.

What a lot of rubbish.

Ive worked for two Supermarkets as a agency driver and both would not allow agency drivers unless they had their licence awhile usually 2 years. Plus as well have to pass a driving assessment, which in one case wasnt that strict and the other it was a strict driving test, where they took you down tiny streets to see if you would mount the pavement and if you did werent working for them.

I was in the supermarkets for awhile and i got called son by the rest of the agency drivers, because i was a lot younger than most of them and i’m 33. Most were 40+ and had a lot of experience in haulage. Infact more than a few were retired doing a few shifts for a bit of extra cash who had been driving for 20 plus years.

Its a common misconception everyone wants a full time job and everyone thats an agency driver is someone unexperienced who can’t get a job.

In the supermarkets i was offered a full time position so many times, i like many others never bothered rather stay agency because we got similar money, but we got to choose the shifts we worked rather than being forced to work most weekends and got to take holidays when we wanted, plus always got full time hours if we wanted.

Same with the place i’m at just now, agency again but majority of the agency drivers i meet are a lot older then myself and have got lots of experience, infact guy i work with a lot just now has been driving for years, been TM in a few large places in Glasgow area.

When agencies are busy, a lot of the time i’d rather work for them because the money is outta this game espec in full time jobs, a lot of the time i’m making a lot more money as a agency driver and have the flexability to do as i please.

have you put your notice in and left your employment then??,if the industry is that bad then.ive been in the transport industry since i left school, never been outta work, and its always kept the ever hungry wolf away from the door.i aint got time for people bemoaning the job,yet are still quite happy to plod away, taking the money.as the saying goes"clock off and…"
if josh you fancy a career in road transport like i did, follow your dream and be persistent.it worked for me and ive never looked back.i just laugh now at all my"school mates"who looked down at me to go do an apprenticeship, while they stayed on for “bigger things”,and im now making more money than most of them.whos laughing now??tin hat on!!.
p.s. i got took on by one of the biggest car transporter firms at the time with no driving experience to speak of,purely because i kept ringing and sending letters.

Oh yeah ive put my notice in lol

Gonna jack my job in go on the dole !

If you dont think this job has done downhill for a lot of people you are living in fantasy land. The money ain’t in it like it was for the majority of people.

Don’t know what your mates did as apprentices, but the people i know who done apprentices and sticked at it make at least the same as a full time tramper, but have a social life and when you start to add on homers make a hell of a lot more.

You seen the job ad’s posted on here class 1 driver £6.50 - £7.50 per hour, there are students working part time in supermarkets doing nightshift on better money.

There are still some dream trucking jobs about but they are becoming more and more rare, if you don’t see that your living in fantasy land.

i know what you are saying kenny,as in many roles/jobs,some things have took a downturn, but we all are purveyors of our own destiny,so to speak, and if anyone fancys road transport as a career,i would recomend it,i guess though im one of the lucky ones.this thread now seems to have turned to a different topic.lol.
now then what about those photos…

Sorry Kenny,
But as to your reply of “what a load of rubbish” well yes quite frankly you are talking Boo larks. New drivers trying to get a foot on the ladder, unless they are extremely lucky have to go down the agency route, as thats the only way to gain the experience required for a full time position. I agree that some experienced drivers prefer the agency’s as its suits their lifestyle. I know of many who have forces /works pensions who use agency work to top up their incomes, as well as some who prefer the diversity of work an agency provides, BUT they are the exception not the rule. I had to go down the agency route myself many many moons ago, (before the legislation was put in place for workers protection) and the experience I gained was invalueable, and it was gained by making the odd mistake and learning from it pretty darned quick. I was lucky as driving agency’s were pretty much in there infancy and drivers could always talk their money up (once they had proved their worth) but we all wanted that full time gig, even if it meant a slightly lower rate, as we wanted the security of a full time position. The agency drivers I talk to now still seem to me to be after the same thing, full time employment with a decent company.
Strange that, but I suppose they are talking rubbish as well.
