Mopeds

Some of us of a certain age  must have had a moped in the mid/late 70s.
Couple of me mates had Fanticmotors, had an FS1E meself.
Got 54 mph out of it. . well thats what it said on the speedo
Quite chuffed at the time, thought i was the kiddy :stuck_out_tongue: . . couldnt catch the Fantics, even laying on the tank

I had a Garelli Record-
brandnewretro.ie/2012/09/07/old- ā€¦ pri-1971/a
Managed to over take a bus once, took me about half an hour. LOL.
Mates had Honda SS 50ā€™s, FS1Eā€™s, Garelli Recordā€™s & Tigers, Fanticā€™s, one even had a Puch Maxi !
Wish I still had mine, theyā€™re worth a few quid now !

Honda MT 50 trials bike then a Yamaha DT 175 to a Honda Cbr 1000 and a Yamaha Rz 350 Ypvs Imported from Florida in Kenny Robrrts livery.

Suzuki ap50, do you know what Iā€™m struggling to remember the colour, think it was red  ,think it did just over 50 mph, nice little moped.
But the bike I would have back now if I could was my Kawasaki kh 250,all speed expansion chambers, bell mouths, the noise and smell of a two stroke ,couldnā€™t beat it,also had kh 400 and was it a h2 500  ,miss those two strokes, but the 250 was special

i had a suzuki zr50

Wish i had the yammie rd 500 or the fzr 1000,have heard that the Tenarrs would shear the genitials over the high tank.

Great memories , started with a purple FS1E(FYC481N iirc) for a couple of months then a brand new yellow DX version (RYD277R) , last of the unrestricted models .

I had a SS50 a long time ago !

Moved on to a RD250C as soon as I could

I personally didnt have a moped, but have memories of my grandads Mobylette, his was an N reg, havenā€™t seen one for years, then saw one for sale locally for Ā£300.

Oooh memories. A KTM 50 sport with a sachs engine and 7 speed box , same as the junior karts at the time. All noise and crazy wheelie competions were the rage.

Amazed I lived through those years.

BSA Batam, the nasty Spanish built mid eighties version. Actually quite good when it worked.

My mate had a completely illegal 250 Lambretta, we had miles more fun on thatā€¦

Haha, Baffles out !
Used to think we were the Late Great Barry Sheen, only with quarter his speed. Lol

I had a purple Fizzie too. Expansion pipe, clip ons the lot. I used to put Castrol R in for the authentic ā€œIā€™m a racing Godā€ smell! Mustā€™ve sounded terrible, and I mustā€™ve looked a proper berk on it. But hey, at 16 youā€™re Gods gift.

My first was an AP50

My main source of fun is this one (at Croft)

Was out on this beauty last weekend  Just had a nut and bolt up restoration.
