didnā€™t have a moped [all my mates did ] I had [drum roll ] Honda c70 step thru , yeah go on laugh , it was indestructible , and being unrestricted ,would whip all of my mates 45-50 mph mopeds ā€¦ really you couldnā€™t kill it ā€¦ got rid of that for a Yamaha yb 100 , was ok , then a Suzuki gp125 , failed my bike test , passed car test 1st go , saw mate killed on a bike and never had another

Was laughing til i read the last sentence . . not so happy days.

I had an SS50, then used to borrow my mates Garelli Rekord and a Gilera when he bought a Bonneville. Previous to those I had a Phillips 50cc, A couple of Raleigh Wisps and a Mobylette (Motobecane)

Yeap been there and done that scenario , even watched them hosing my own away whilst being put back together . Still ride though , same era bike , Kawasaki Z1B in green . Took her out this afternoon and had a clenching moment crossing the railroad tracks , wobbles well for an oldie

i remember the FS1ES [fizzies]noisy little things i called them the bike of a hundred gears, because the blokes i knew who had them were constantly going up and down the gears to try and make them go faster, now if you want to talk about real bikes then you cannot get better than the yamaha XJR1300 or the suzuki GSX1400 both modern but look like the old muscle bikes from the 70S

Malaguti Cavalcone for me 1976 !!

Iā€™ve been thinking about doing my bike test, has to be cheaper than driving a car to/from workā€¦!!!
But there again Iā€™m waiting on a decision from a garage whether Iā€™ve been accepted for finance on a 57 plate Fiesta

Get your Bike licence ! you wonā€™t regret it

I started on an MBX50. Lovely looking thing but weighed the same as most 125s. H100s at 17, which I passed my test on.

Mate had an AR50 at 16, dropped an AR80 engine in it, then slapped a 110 bore kit on it. Got stopped by the plod (bear in mind this was 1987) doing 103mph on it (remember, he was 16 and it was stickered up as a 50)

Cop just told him to go home, put the 50 engine back in it, as he would check the engine number in it when he produced his docs. And told him not to ride like a ā– ā– ā– ā– .

Engine went back in, docs produced, checks done, then straight back home to drop the 110 back in.

Bloody producers, what a pain the arse they were, another mate of mine once got 13 in a week. Rather than just tell the cops he already had one to take in, he took them all in to the cop shop, threw them on the counter and said heā€™d like to report a case of harassment.

Donā€™t know if they put him on a database or something, but he never got another one again.

Yamaha power valve system on the RD 350 and RZ 350.Got to be a classic now.

I personally didnt have a moped, but have memories of my grandads Mobylette, his was an N reg, havenā€™t seen one for years, then saw one for sale locally for Ā£300.

I had one of them in the 60ā€™s. Spent more time on me arse than I did in the saddle. ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  lethal in the wet, but I bounced in those days.

I remember during the summers of 97 and 98 I must have been 13 or 14 at the time me and my younger brother had this friend that we would hang out withā€¦ now he had this real heap of scrap of a bike anyways what we all used to do was head of down this dirt track just a stones throw away from where we live(yes I still live there) and we would take it in turn bombing it up and down this trackā€¦ it used to brake down a lotā€¦ fun times

now Iā€™m 30 I do have the bugā€¦ but no bike nor do I have the licence but I will get it eventually
