Aye it was a good Quarry to work out of they paid you weekly after your had a months work done,Decent rates too, Old Norman Craig was in charge of the haulge, Plus Edmund Steele, who was there till the bitter end, They had some good loaders there too, They could get your weight right, There was one loader who was an awkward sought of bloke, I f he didnt like you he would load you on one side, or have you a tonne over the top, But I suppose you could get blokes like him wherever you went, Happy Tipper Days , Regards Larry.
Another name comes to mind Geordie Henson, He was also in the w/bridge office, Another canny lad lad from Corbridge, Regards Larry.
I bet you couldn’t see the load of stone with that bulk body when he left the quarry loaded.
Aye, 19.000 Tonne, & sheets werent compulsory in those days, unless you had a load of wetmix on, Regards Larry.

We had to sheet everything since the late 1970’s Dave, even walling and sugar stone etc. Our quarry was in a National Park so you had to keep them happy or they wouldn’t grant you an extension.
That Foden is virtually the same as the one I took my test in exept it was a 24 tonner, Tilcon had several with bodies like that.
Pete.
