i seen some p&o decals on www.ebay.co.uk the other day although 1/24 some on it smaller decals

hi all new to the forum .but i saw this thread and just had to say that iv just spent a fantastic hour looking thru it !!! some stuning models and top quality work .
many years ago i was big time into the Italeri kits having made about 20 + kits over a ten year time span (not as good as the ones i see on this thread tho :unamused: )
but now i find a bit more time on my hands i think its time to get out the glue and get back into it .
the only thing is this time round id love to try and model in a bigger scale but i cant find anything around ? back in the day pocher did a 1/8th scale but as far as i can tell thay are as rare as rocking horse ■■■ now and only good for rebuilds as the only ones iv seen are made
any how …can any one give me info on wer i can get kits of a bigger scale than 1/24 ?
and it strikes me as a bit crazzy that the likes of Italeri and revel /heller have not done a re relise on the trucks from the 70s/80s (gota be money in it) some of the ones i did like the daf 3300 and Scania 142H Canvas Back (cant even find the draw bar trailer ) are going for £40 + !!! crazy money
lol sorry for the long post but this thread has warmed the old cockles
cheers for any info
ricky .

Hi,

The DAF and Scania canvas truck you mention are recent re-releases, Italeri have been doing a sterling job over recent years of re-releasing their early kits, such as, DAF 3300, Iveco Cowboy/Special, Turbostar 2, MAN Formula 6, Scania 143, Volvo F12 Globetrotter and the DAF 2800 Cattleman NT, there are probably more which I have forgotten about. With regards to the Heller kits, the Scania 141, Trailor tilt and fridge trailer are subject to recent production runs.

With regards to the costs, yes, they are not cheap. I look at some of my original purchases from the early eighties- F12 Globertotter for £5.99 from my local model shop, and wonder about inflation, but we forget that was over thirty years ago. I personally put this down to getting old.

Evening fellas, I’m after a bit of advice.
I’m planning on making a model of this unit and skelly.

Which container from these would be best to sit on the trailer, ie which ones would have been around the same time as this truck? I’m thinking either the Geest (unless Russell Davies done all the Geest stuff) or BELL as the P&O/Nedllyod are too new maybe?

If none of the above are suitable I’ll use this plain one?

Thanks for any help.

I probably shouldn’t have used the word ‘making’ It will be in 1;50 scale and the unit, skelly and box will be taken from other models. The only work I’ll have to do is paint some parts.

As for scratch building the box that exceeds my skills I think, so I’ll stick with the containers already on the market. If I could find an old OOCL box that would be great but the only oldies released are the ones I’ve listed.

Cheers Jimski, maybe one day though I’ll get the Evergreen plasticard out.

well the daf cab is now complete with mudguards and number plates fitted, now started on the tilt. have managed to prime, paint and weather the chassis and get the tilt itself painted, side boards need to been painted sliver, trailer wheels modified/painted then decals fitted and weathered

decals how now been fitted to the daf cf cab, seatbelts and curtains added on the inside and some safety labels to add along with wipers and mirrors then can turn my attention to the tanker.

Hi Pete
The two Daf’s look really well. The detail on the chassis of Hoyer’s is superb you could pass that of as the real thing no kidding that would fool a lot of people so real looking it’s uncanny. Marks out of 10-------25. Eddie.
