MODEL TRUCKS

excellent stuff look forward to it, erm i must admit i bought it on ebay! one of my favorite motors though, would look cool as a model, would you convert to 6 wheeler, and right hand drive??

yah definately, thats what im doing with greenwoods at moment. bit tricky though coz i like to do all converting from scratch rather than buy the parts for right hand drive.
ive always liked that motor, not too much and its a lovely colour

underway, bull bar took forever to scratch build, each strand was glued and cut one at a time (40 in total) may not be perfect but im pretty pleased

hi folks, any chance anyone could point me in the right direction of how to make a pair of square airhorns? thanks in advance

there were square airhorns in the first italeri conversion kit, thats if you can get hold of 1, they are pretty rare nowadays.

Hey chaps, a quick question.
Would house-hold paint stripper be advisable to remove paintwork from a model truck&trailer?

Only if the model is metal diecast, a plastic model wouldn’t come out of it very well! It still might not remove paint from the little nooks and cranny’s so you will have to use a craft knife blade to get any lodged bits out and you may have to cover it more than once. Stripping the model is the best way especially if it has glazing, again this would be ruined with caustic stripper. Franky.

I use fairy power spray for stripping paint off plastic models, spray the parts needed to be stripped and put in a sealed plastic bag for a couple of days to work its magic then scrub with a old toothbrush ( works for me )

hope this helps

Thanks for the advice Frank. I would strip the model as suggested. Also I think I’ll steer clear of the caustic stripper as it can be dodgy stuff to handle.

Good tip for stripping the trailer Tony. I take it the Fairy power spray…or similar… would work with the diecast truck parts as well then?

cheers lads.

Hi all just coming to the finishing stages ( just waiting for decals )of a 141 scannie you might have already seen the trailer before, when I first got into modelling ( last year) John Holcroft built a141 for me which came to a sad end when one of the cats collided with it but the insurance wouldn’t pay out   so I thought I’d have a go and build another one hope you like.

And of course the real thing

Regards Jimski

spot on that is jimski

cheers
gaz

that looks superb jimski, really impressed with the interior detailing!thanks very much for the horns, got them today, bloody absolutely spot on!!! thanks again!

p.s thanks tetragaz about the info on horns out of the older accesoy kit, there looks to be some decent stuff in there all round, but like you say seem to be a bit of a nightmare to get hold of!

cheers will

a little bit of progress been made, been pretty busy recently though so been o na bit of a go slow with model.

finally got the ally bumper to stick on, had to strip paint back to bare plastic so it would glue, before it just brought paint off with it

test fit of a couple of extras

The ISO tank and trailer is coming together, time spent making up decals, adding pipe work and bits and its starting to look a bit more life like

looking good sniffy!
sulphuric coming from or bound for the docks!..nice work mate
