It sure brings a tear to the eye ROF looking at those Atky’s,I wonder what drive line the Blue Borderer had,I can’t make my mind up as to what sort of axle it has, maybe Kirkstall HR,but the Hubs seem to be to far into the dish of the wheel ? Just an observation  Cheers Bewick.

The blue one XTF235N wasrebuilt for work in the 90’s and received a 3rd axle and a 320 ■■■■■■■ (iirc) - so presumably it got a different drive axle too ?

Some cracking Atkinson photo’s there. The red 8 wheeler, did it start life off as one of T H Browns from Grimsby. The reg is definitely Grimsby 1971 /2. It really looks the dogs !!!

Cheers Bassman

I think the Axle on XTF is off a ERF E series Rockwell?

I thought the sides looked a bit low for Brown’s, matey, but I’m usually wrong at my age!

I wonder why someone would knock the third axle back out of it?
And I would think that’s a Rockwell axle.

It was single wheeled and looked odd-

NOW I understand why someone would knock the third axle out of it!
Apart from the single wheels it looks very smart in that livery.

I believe it is a Rockwell axle. The tag axle was removed when it was retired from work

It was new to T H Brown, and then worked into the 1990s for Billy Smith of Longton, near Preston, although hampered by being only 24T gross. I don’t think this is the original body.

Thanks for that, I thought the reg looked like one T H Browns. They ran a good Atkinson fleet at one time and I would think that would be one of the last that they put on the road, going mainly onto artics about that period.

Cheers Bassman

Nice one, Paul, thank you! Not seen that one before.
