Many thanks for this superb shot Chris, great firm Reeds we worked for them for many years re-loading back out of Kent.

Hope you counted those wheelnuts, Dennis

hiya,
Only found this lot several days ago and have spent dribs a drabs of time looking
at every page, and wow seen some motors Iā€™ve actually driven a very pleasant
experience I must admit, and yes Chris the four wheeled boxvan when as a flat
was a trunk motor and as you say a Bowker motor will have done the odd shift
shunting it and getting it ready for the night man usually me being a distance
man would have been on a Friday when too late too get another London in, but
a South East ferry port was normal on Friday, which was always worked to get a
Sunday morning running in job just in time for the Hamilton opening.
thanks harry, long retired.

Hereā€™s a good old Pathe film from the 1970ā€™s with plenty of Atkiā€™s and ERFā€™s passing through Stanstead.

Aye Chris,8 stud wheels,so whats the story behind that Atky model, was it a lightweight 24ton gvw prior the new C&U regs coming in,was it,1964? and that tractor unit had a non suffix? letter after the number. ā€œDelectationā€ now thats a Leeds city variety saying if ever there was one, have you ever played there ?Plink plonk, now come on Chris no ā€œbumā€ notes :open_mouth:  Cheers Dennis.

As I recall, these were only 20T gross, Dennis, and ran with single axle trailers - 5LWs in them, I think. And who wouldnā€™t be content with 94 bhp??

Leeds? Leeds?? But thatā€™s in Yorkshire :open_mouth: :stuck_out_tongue:

As it 'appens, Iā€™m too busy playing in London :sunglasses:

Before you say anything, this IS an Atkinson (not a Seddon Atkinson), and a Mk.2 at that! It didnā€™t even start life as a tractor unitā€¦
