Microlise hacked

So who has been affected by the outage at Microlise? with us no routes on sat nav (Co pilot) and no debriefs regards late arrivals, departures (a good thing) and vehicle checks done old school, pen and paper.

I read early that is only DHL who had been hacked on microlise.

Stobarts too

Tesco too when I last worked there (last Thursday). I didn’t think it would still be down a week later.

I only use CoPilot as a backup to their risk assessment maps but it was already creating loads of extra delivery paperwork and hassle matching up what loads have already left.

:popcorn::popcorn::popcorn: oh dear , back to old sckoll paper work and proper planning

Fortunately our lot hadn’t managed to get rid of all the excessive paperwork yet, but it sounds like it might be country wide, or global?

Co pilot works ok on our trucks that have tablets installed still. Tracking vehicles is I believe still down for us. Driver performance app also down still.

Yes microlise got hacked and for some reason half the stories have been made about DHL having issues as clearly DHL are the only customer of Microlise

I downloaded the app and it wants to make and manage phone calls. Not good given it’s been hacked. We go live end of the month but we’re supposed to be running it alongside fleetboard for a month so we can familiarise and keep getting our bonus after the transition

The DPM app is no less secure than any other APK that needs such permissions. The microlise servers have been hacked, presumably by some group asking for a ransom to undo their work. That’s what is usually the case.

At the moment for us as far as I know we can’t track trucks or use the apps or anything on microlise. Yet out tablets running SOTI MOBI control with co pilot on then are still running fine.

When I read all this terminology… microlise, co.pilot, ’ debriefs, ‘risk assessment maps’, driver performance apps, fleetboard, …
I think to myself, how all this wonderful technology and modern procedure has enhanced our job to what it has evolved to today, and I can see why many are clamouring to join this industry. :sunglasses:

Nah tbh, my immediate thoughts are ‘load of dog sh’, wtf has happened to this job, how did we all manage so well before, and…maybe it’s getting time for me to call it a day.
Then… don’t need all this crap, and …definitely dont need the type of ■■■■ who perpetrates it all …aka tossers !
:roll_eyes::rage:
Is it just me?
Yeah, maybe is.

Your just jealous

Co pilot is the sat nav brand bundled into the tablet, microlise is loaded with our jobs for the day, no paperwork needed. Debrief section is late departures or delays.
So now it is going old school and writing everything down

Yeah I know what it all is mate…still think it’s all unnecessary managementspeak boll ocks…all results of ‘Blue sky thinking’ no doubt.

‘Debrief’ btw…are we all WW2 Lancaster bomber aircrew now ffs ?

Had thing ages ago when Microsoft windows or what ever it was got updates and it went wrong.

I can only imagine things like this updates going wrong hackers trying hold companies to ransom etc will become more regular over time.

Am lucky I work for small company uses delivery notes and phone calls. We’re just left alone all day to get on with it.
Sometimes never hear from office all day unless have a problem.
Plus paperwork delivery notes leave a trial of anyone wants to look into it all can’t be hacked can’t be deleted by mistake…
Yes use a satnav.

But no need for all the stuff telmatics etc all waste of money and require a subscription no doubt.
As mentioned we managed all right before all this rubbish

I could imagine that in a depot with perhaps 50 or more drivers, if the driver feedback enabled the management to identify and let go drivers that drive like bellends then that is worthwhile, but I don’t know if it is ever used like that.

Sounds like my kind of job mate, and I assume ran by people who actually know something about road haulage.

Problem is all this sh is relied on nowadays, and it is evolving (or reducing) drivers to where they could not work at a place like that, where they are not spoon fed and get their arses wiped for them.

Co pilot is a truck nav, that accounts for vehicle heights and ours are set to the max height of the truck trailer combos for flats or deckers. Saves me spending money now on buying new sta navs. Although it’s not a sat nav it’s a driver guidance aid apparently

But as useful as it is it will show if you are off the designated route so could well be used to kick you in the ■■■■■■■■ of your stupid enough to go and hit a bridge. But as we were banned from using personal sat nav including truck navs because people use car sat navs and jot bridges or use a truck nav and still hit bridges.

Also in this day and age using paper for everything is a waste of resources and uses tons of paper, we are in 2024 for goodness sake. Most businesses use electronic documents where possible these days.

The only places that are backward at using tech to make things easier and use less resources generally are haulage companies.

Everything is a double edged sword mind and can easily bite you in the arse. But that is not a reason to just say tech sucks and let’s carry on doing things on paper the way it’s always been done. Times change tech gets better and in business if you lag behind you lose out and go the way of Jessops or similar because you haven’t changed with the times.

Tracking is an integral part of utilising your fleet these days, also you can even allow customers to track the vehicles if you so wish. It can also prove where the vehicle was should someone try to make an unscrupulous insurance claim against your vehicles.

So technology has it’s advantages but along with that comes some disadvantages. It’s swings and roundabouts a lot of the time.

Yeah I DO get it mate.
Doesn’t say I have to like it.

We have a couple of apps for different customers, obviously devised by some nerdy child who has not had his arse smacked enough…waste of effin time.

‘Are your trailer legs up’
(Me…nah I thought I’d just gan out the yard and see how far I can get before I either snap them off, or pole vault over a hedge)

Take a photograph of legs (So I do just that with my shorts showing them off nicely)

Are your airlines on …take photo
(Me…nah pushed shunt button instead, I like to see how fast I can go round corners downhill)

Are your electric suzies on.
(Me…No thought I’d drive incognito with no lights on for a change)

And about 10 more points of pure bull ■■■■…

But the piece de resistance when you answer ‘yes’ to his inane kin questions, he/it comes back with…

'Well Done !
(Me, while stood there doing it in the pi55ing rain …
Aye go and ■■■■ yersel you ■■■■ ! :rage:)

Sadly the quest for perfection will always continue, I’m just pointing out that nothing is ever perfect, you just have to be aware of how tech can be used against you as well as how you can use it for you that’s all.

Yep I also get that, just that in this job it always seems to be used against you.
Trackers, in cab cameras to name a couple.

(Pleeeease dont anybody come on with the management b/s they have swallowed, …where cameras are 'there to help you’, followed by an isolated case where cameras have actually worked for somebody to back it up…for every case like that there is a hundred on the other side.)
