Maritime Transport

Thanks for that
So in a seven week cycle you get three weeks where you are only paid three days pay!

Yeah basically. But, don’t forget because you’ve got 4 days off you can put in for an extra shift and still have 3 days off, effectively 5 on 3 off which still ain’t bad.

MickyB666:

bald bloke:
How do you have three day weeks working a 4 on 4 off shift pattern.

Off Mon, Tues, Weds, Thurs week one then off Tues, Weds, Thurs, Fri week two and so on and so on.

I quite like the idea of a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, and for full time work it is one of the main things I look for so I would be interested to know how it works.

I can see how the shift pattern works but I am not quite sure how that relates to actual pay.

Are wages paid as a salary?
Are you paid weekly or monthly?

Looking at it I seen it is a seven week repeating rota.

Days Off Week 1 Days On Week 1
Mon, Tue, Wed, Thur Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon
it works out that in a 8 week period you take 3 days wages a week on four occasions but you can work a rest day and still have three days off.bank holidays included in rota.november to end december you must be willing to be available on 1 or 2 of your rest day as very busy.take home pay at that time can be 800 a week.
Days Off Week 2 Days On Week 2
Tue, Wed, Thur, Fri Sat, Sun, Mon, Tue

Days Off Week 3 Days On Week 3
Wed, Thur, Fri, Sat Sun, Mon, Tue, Weds

Days Off Week 4 Days On Week 4
Thur, Fri, Sat, Sun Mon, Tue, Wed, Thur

Days Off Week 5 Days On Week 5
Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon Tue, Wed, Thur, Fri

Days Off Week 6 Days On Week 6
Sat, Sun, Mon, Tue Wed, Thur, Fri, Sat

Days Off Week 7 Days On Week 7
Sun, Mon, Tue, Weds Thur, Fri, Sat, Sun

Days Off Week 8 (As per week 1) Days On Week 8 (As per week 1)
Mon, Tue, Wed, Thur Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon

Does the rota continuing running through bank holidays etc

Can someone run me through the cycle to show what do you get paid for each week?

Well can see you can read but still gibber some pish.

The guaranteed take home pay (before any overtime) is £375 for a 3 day week & £480 for a 4 day week. This takes into account the £10 meal allowance which isn’t taxed.

Your average lies somewhere in the middle of that & of course overtime and extra shifts on top are an inevitability. Your looking at in excess of £30k for a shift pattern which gives you loads of time at home, so if your not a big weekend person & can cope with the up & down pay packets it’s the shift to be on in my opinion.

^^^^^this!

Do they run any trampers out of Avonmouth?

Go on their website and see what they’re advertising. I think most depots have trampers but some are trying to get away from it.
I asked to go tramping mon to fri but they said no whereas I was at Leeds depot the other day and the drivers were saying they want trampers there. I think it depends what kind of work the depot mainly does.

whats that all about and that don’t sound good mate.
If your on four on four off surley they need pay you your basic no matter what for those days.
If you got bills that ain’t good management and taking the p@@s.
A week or two of that a month would be horrendous over slow periods would be horrendous.

Do you get your tax free daily meal allowance when you are on holiday? I would think not. -£40. Bad times.

Stobart’s do the same. £15 per day tax-free meal allowance, but not payable when on holiday.

£75 per week taken off you!!

Don’t think that’s quite right e/ b, Colin explained holiday pay to me as 20 days at average pay and 13 days at basic ( 33 days is due to 5 days xtra hol after 5 years service )
