Shelton motors in Cambridgeshire have one for sale at the moment plus lots of other unusual stuff like a Transcon ridgid.
The one for sale by Shelton’s is a DM off set cab and a fair lump of a price on it !!!, if anyone’s looking for one there’s an FM interstater for sale on the “preloved” website up for offers, it need’s a bit on pannel work doing by the looks of the add otherwise it looked good, I’m quite sure it’s one of the ones John scholey of Beverly used to have more recently kept by Tony jordan in Leicestershire, I think?.
my dad use to own a mack truck he also use to pick them up from the docks and then take them back to western trucks in Leyland.ddf 907t was his reg use to travel all over Europe with him as a kid brilliant truck happy day
Toolbox:
I re-discovered this old pic of Mike Lawrence’s Mack (UYC 39W?) taken as it exited the M20 at J10 in April 1986 with a locomotive we had bought from Barry scrapyard, South Wales:
You sure that’s the M20? there is no traffic
when going south on the m5 past the m50 junction…there are 2 trucks parked sise by side in a field on the left.i think they are macks, dont know if they
re for sale though.
Slightly off topic but whilst being passed by a very impressive ‘long nosed’ recovery unit on the M23 a couple of nights ago I set to wondering why this style of truck is so very popular in other countries like the US and Oz but seem to be the reserve of enthusiastic owner drivers here? Cost? Size? Aerodynamics?
Anyone know or care to venture an opinion?
I was told that the bonneted trucks have a much longer wheel base so when off the beaten track and crossing wooden bridges they have less weight on the bridge at any one time.
