M5 Frankley services closed both directions

When a death occurs, arresting the driver is standard practice until facts are known

Why are people so [zb] quick to blame? Someone died for [zb] sake. Give it a rest. :imp:

Never thought I would ever agree with you,but you are spot on.

I don’t ALWAYS post drivel.

Seems to me that some folks on here are very quick to aportion blame. Ive just been reading a thread on the Coach Drivers Forum (original name that  ), only one person on there is blaming anyone (truck driver but youd expect that)

heres a link http://www.coachdriverforum.co.uk/welcome/showthread.php?t=16804

I barely missed this, maybe 1/2 hr, was coming down M5 in roadworks when the motorway was shut J3 - J4, and I had to divert round, was calling the Highways all the names under the sun thinking they’d had a night closure that’d over-run, only later did I find out what had happened.

When I’ve had those ‘heroes’ that slam their brakes on in front of your vehicle, I’ve automatically swerved right so I’d be safe, my hat off to the fowler welch driver who it seems didn’t want to endanger anyone in the next lane and took the impact on his side - unfortunately, it shoved the bus / coach into other lane anyway…

As an ex-bus / coach driver, I can’t understand why the passengers were still on the bus, lead by example. It was foggy, it was early hours, so the highest proportion of vehicles on the road are trucks and coaches, if any hit the stricken vehicle, it was going to be carnage, so explain it’d be best to get off, then get off, people are like sheep and will follow.

My missus thought it’d be safer to stay on the bus till I explained how bad the fog was, if you were on that bus, you wouldn’t have seen the white lines seperating lanes 2 and 3 at some points, so when it’s that bad and most vehicles around are going to be as big if not bigger than yours, would you really feel safe sat in it, and Stagecoach busses were never warm when they were brand new.

BTW it was a Stagecoach bus, not a coach…

buses and coaches are the same thing mate

Not so. Buses stop at bus stops, coaches don’t.

If a coach gets put on rail replacement, does it then become a train?!

So National Express coaches, don’t stop at bus stops then?

Dave Penn;

Just heard that the FW driver has died, very sorry to hear this :frowning: Condolences to both families.

the bus/coach was ferrying fruit pickers to work,so i guess it was owned by some sort of agency.

bus driver charged with causing death by dangerous driving :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

god knows what happened

Being arrested (and bailed) on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving is not the same as being charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

I hope this helps.
