Is it just me or has any other drivers noticed how many times they flash,the ones im on about are the relativeley new ones from 10 down i think,i was going down to heathrow around 0940hrs and the gantry was flashing 40 but not a great deal of traffic,as i went past doing i think around 45-46 the buggers flashed,now im not sure if it was me or someone in one of the other 3 lanes but i kept looking in my mirrors and they must of flashed another 8 or 9 times 
The funny thing is when i got to the next gantry the traffic hadnt changed but the nsl signs were flashing,that next gantry cant be more than 4 or 500 metres away on the way back sure as eggs is eggs they were flashing away yet again

Scare tactics possibly, since not many take notice of gantry signs they will make a small fortune out of them!
They are variable speed limit ‘Scameras’ set at whatever they feel like to reel in the revenue. 
My belief is, if they are set at 40, you will trigger it at 43/44mph then you get the ‘Prize’ – 3 points & a £60 or £90 fine.
50 is probably 54/55mph & so on.
We used to Blat down there on the Bikes to the Ace Café on a Friday night before they put the Revenue Cameras in, but it’s no fun now, so we use the A roads instead. (Milton Keynes to Park Royal in about 40 minutes, nearly as quick as my lorry 
)
To put you at ease. Yesterday evening & this evening when coming NB I saw the flash on that gantry over lane 3 was going continuously like a strobe light. It must be fubarr’d.

Good point ! But I don’t want to be the Guinea Pig with deep pockets to try & prove my innocence.
I certainly will be watching this space for the first Trucker to take the authority’s to the cleaners.

I would have thought in this day and age the camera is linked up to the sign saying how fast you can go otherwise why would the camera flash you? There must be some sort of device that stores the speed what the sign was showing when the camera flashed whoever went through

If its in a red circle it’s a speed limit, they are in use and do get upset if you try and cane it through them, go knows what happens if you set 5 off say in a row is that an instant ban or would it count as one hit?

On your first point I’d agree as I believe they’re more generous on motorways than other roads. On your second point if it’s a single section of road it can be treated as one offence although how much distance they allow I don’t know.

Speedos underead anyway so I’d say you’d be alright on the limiter in a 50 stretch but when all the other traffic is doing 50 you ain’t going anywhere, this is when you see the knobbers tail gaiting old people in the middle lane…
I know they will be linked up with the matrix sign to trigger depending on what speed the sign says. My point is that if the sign is defective it may not be showing any information although the camera has reduced its threshold.
On a seperate note, the cameras heading N/B by J10 on the M1 were flashing trucks in lane 1. When I went past and looked bak at the signs, they were showing a red cross because of the road works. If these new cameras also catch people driving through lane closed signs then I’m all for them. It’s one of my pet hates.

What happens if they come on Just as you drive under one. Is there a delay before the camera goes KA-CHING £££ ?
im not sure these are still legal yet, they was a issue with these and the limits wernt been enforced according to bbc3cr
they are a waste of time… the whole scheme a waste of time… its still the same as it was years ago before the work was done… only thing now is some prick decides to put it at 50 and 60 when they isnt any need…
apparantly them on the m1 and m25 have not been approved by the government the was a thing about it some months ago google is your friend

They’ve been flashing on the red crosses for a while now on that section, good thing in my book.
