Just recently passed my class two licence and advancing to gain my class one licence
Keeping all my options open to me, I have to think of my family and what is best for them. Moving to canada could be the new fresh start Im looking for.
I have two brilliant young children and I like every father want to give them the best in life.
Some of you on this forum say dont come to canada where as others say come and try it
Swampey, the decision is up to you, but take the opinion of the ex-pat’s on here with a large pinch of salt because they’re all on commission by their respective companies to get more UK drivers over there and will paint Canada as some kind of Holy Grail.
form guide for the runers and riders-
robk.
showed early potential but lacks staying power, earned the nickname “job a week bob” early in his career, hasnt been out for a very long time.
form- 223 jobs in two years, never made the trip or been further than the m62.
chances- a rank outsider.
big truck.
only experience is on tippers with no nights out, bit of an unknown quantity and making a big step up in class here.
form- four years on tippers and two months on the harvest run
chances- beter than robs but not good.
shortcut/gumbo.
sufering an identity crisis at the moment but worth a watch.
form- plenty of experience and turned up for the interview.
chances- could be a darkhorse depending on which one turns up.
bob the dog.
set the early pace in many races and is a proven stayer.
form- two years in canada actually doing the job.
chances- favorite, but not certain to run.
spardo.
a very experienced stayer but maybe past his best, would’ve prefered french soil.
form- plenty
chances- could be a good eachway bet.
As the master of BS says, you have to make your own mind up. If you want to know what I, and several others, think then I suggest you find one of the myriad forums where RobK and BT are banned and ask there.
Don’t waste your time, guys. I shan’t be wasting any more time on you. I said it would be my last say and it was.
David, the suggestions made of me were lies and nonsense. If that does not constitute a breaking of the rules then what does?
I shall follow the lead of some others. Until you get a grip on this nonsense then this site is a waste of time.
joking apart with the whole horse racing thing I think these immigration threads are turning into a farce. Right now Swampey sounds like a pathetic effort to keep this subject running for the benefit of a few contributors to not only attack BTD but also to destroy the efforts of Canadian trucking companies to employ UK drivers and put off said drivers to go work for them.
I don’t doubt for one minute there have been casualties in the Canadian trucking employment process. This isn’t the same as getting a job for a Dutch company and passing by the house 3 times a week. If there have been shortcomings in the process, for the sake of future applicants we should highlight them objectively.
Attacking BTD serves no purpose as he does not represent the Canadian Govt. national or provincial and has only represented his own thoughts and experiences with the company he works for…and yet he is ridiculed for the property he bought, what it is made of, and how many acres it sits on.
Get back on track and help the people that might want to go to Canada, give them pro’s and con’s not jaundiced opinions…thats what I believe this section of the forum is set up for.

Very good PaulB but the form book is wrong I’d 6 months on the harvest run

I wonder who’s talking about honesty now
I am not banned from any forums apart from BTA which I think is a temp one as I put it down to a misunderstanding with “Gumbo” which I hope to get sorted shortly.

I wonder what these supposed forums are that I’m banned from too??

You seem to have a serious issue with this . In fact so much so that it’s clearly apparent you do indeed have something to hide hence your persistence to get the comments removed. After all, if it wasn’t true then you’d just laugh it off and wouldn’t give a toss. I can understand why you’re annoyed though; I would be too if people had found out I was getting back-handers from my company for getting them new UK recruits.
You can bang on about it all being lies and nonsense til the cows come home (or should that be drivers? ) but it’s just your word and you have nothing to back it up and therefore no rules have been broken.

Robk, Do you understand your own posts??
BTD must be guilty because he takes exception to being called a liar. He should just laugh it off and then he would prove his innocence. Get real!
You put the onus on BTD to disprove your accusation.,thinking he has nothing to use in his defence. Well there is no “smoking gun” that he can use but there is a lot of little facts that do support him.
It`s in black and white for all to read on his web page. You think no one from Big Freight reads his webpage or his posts on these forums. This page is his and anything posted on it is legally binding to the person who owns the page and posts the words.
In Canadian companies, people would know if someone was being paid recruiter bonuses, Payroll clerks, recruiters, the alleged recruited drivers as well as most everone else in the company would certainly know and do you think they are all part of some conspiracy and would work to keep it covered up.just to support your allegations.■■?
In another post he gave you the phone number and the names of the people to talk to about your allegations, you refuse to do so. You imply that they are part of the conspiracy to hide the facts… Do you really think that BFS and its employees have nothing better to do with their time than plot how to out wit the great robk. You arent even a speck on their radar screen and never will be.
There are people on this and other forums who have posted that they were not happy with their personal experience, with BFS, why would they not post to support your allegations.
In all the other topics that BTD has posted about that concern the Canadian trucking industry, he is right on, no BS, he tells it like it is,why would he choose to hide the facts concerning this, it would certainly be easier to tell the truth if it were the case, instead of having to put up with you and your cronies and your allegations over and over. My opinion on this matter about his posts being accurate and up front are based on my 34 years in the Canadian trucking industry, he is telling you posters like it is . He is basing it on real experience, not a few weeks as a migrant farm worker or whatever else you are using as a reference point.
Your words" but it’s just your word and you have nothing to back it up and therefore no rules have been broken.

You bring a whole meaning to the word “naive”. I find it incredible that you think whatever someone writes on their website is automatically true and factual, and it’s even more laughable that you reckon it would be legally binding.

FFS man get real, and get off my screen please.
Dont attack the messenger just because you cant support your allegations.
Maybe you should do a little googling and bring your self up to date on the laws concerning what is posted on a web site and who is responsible for those words. Its very easy to trace the ownership of anyones words posted on the Internet and therefore it is also easy to hold them accountable for those words. BTD posts it on his page and you are the "naive" one to think hes not taking ownership of these words by doing so.
The onus is on you to prove your accusations, so please post away.
casey, your wasting your time mate, this fool has no idea weather bob has made money on recruits or not but that dosn’t make any difference what so ever, his whole idea is to constantly trawl the different forums looking to post something to get a reaction, if someone posted the sky was blue, he call them an idiot because he’s in the know and obviously it’s black at night!
the idiots been doing it non stop for three years on any site that will tolerate him long enough to be noticed, hence his multi posts on here after a years ban, the boys like a dog with two dicks!
give it a week and he’ll have latched on to something or someone else on another forum to keep himself entertained with.

Bob, I have supported your case when you are right, both now and in the past, and just like then you jump to conclusions about what is or isn’t being done. Please read the new rules and you will realise that contraventions of them are not dealt with in the public arena.

Two specific alleagtions Rob,
If you cant prove or back them up then you should make very clear that you “Think” that is what is happening, presenting as fact is misleading and possibly damaging.
Either present your proof or stop making the allegations.

Well Paul you may be right., but I think that posters such as RK count on the fact that no one is going to take them to task for their accusations and ask them to post some facts. And when you do ask for proof, they change the post to a personal attack on the questioner. I`ll bet his googler is just smoking right now as he looks for something to save face with.
New rules, eh, David. Funny that. Not long ago RobK was banned from this site again. Do I take it the rules have been changed so he is allowed back then?
He and BT have stated that I am taking backhanders and that I am on a recruiting drive. As has been pointed out, I have provided them with contact details so they can call to find out that their statements are false. They will not because it is more fun for them to call me a liar and you are permitting it.
OK, so, RobK, tell me more about the runaway truck incident without any untruths. Tell me more about how you are the only person on here bragging about the 48K you earn. After all, surely the legal driving hours make it so you must be on 50 quid an hour.
And BT, tell us genuine tales about these globetrotting expeditions you alluded to then climbed down and said you had been there on holiday.
Personal attack deleted.D.Not that we didn’t get that idea already.
There, I can’t have broken any forum rules because they haven’t, or am I not allowed to say such things? Correct.
If you want to come to Canada as a truck driver, be prepared to work hard for the first year or so. You will have problems but nothing too harsh.
There are those that will tell you not to do it and they will tell you that you’ll work and not get paid and things like that. If drivers are not getting fair treatment then this will cause problems for the employers as they will not be allowed to sponsor new drivers.
If Canada is the place you want to make your home, do some research, come over and talk to some employers and see if it’s for you as it
s not for eveyone.
I have driven truck in Canada for a couple of years and have though about driving in the UK. I’m Canadian but also hold British citizenship, and if I was to move to the UK to drive truck, I’m sure that it will take me some time before I find a good position. I’m also sure that I would spend the most part of my first year working for agaencies. What I’m saying is that you would probably do better moving to Canada as a truck driver as I would doing the same in the UK.
Don’t take offence, as this is just my opinion, but Brits tend to complain more than most, and Canadians also have this trait, but are a little more American. Americans don’t like complainers. This is just my observation.
The one thing I don’t like with Canada, is that I find most employers don’t invest much in training their staff. You will find that other drivers can be very helpful when you need it and that is a good thing.
Take a close look at different provinces in Canada because things differ from place to place.
