losing weight

any of you fellas lost weight with dieting,i need to lose weight but never know what to take with me during the day, basically I have a small bowl of cereal in the morning but take a sandwich for lunch with a can of sugarfree drink and a bottle of water, then have a biggish meal in the evening, the reason for asking is i’m after a few pointers, can’t stand spicy food, did start taking a tuna salad to work but got bored with it,so annoying trying to eat sensibly, another idea was taking just fruit to munch on during the day

Pasta or rice with bit of last nights left overs.

You’re doing it the wrong way around mate; eat breakfast like a King, eat lunch like a Prince, eat supper like a pauper.

Seriously, if you go to bed hungry you’ll find that you have a far better quality sleep.

Wife has done all the ‘diet plans’ out there… Slimming world, weight watchers etc…

And has ended up on the ‘Teri Anne’ diet… But it comes across more like an ‘eating plan’…

Wife has Crohns and AS*, so has to be careful what she eats anyway in the first place. But so far so good…

Ankeylosing Spondylitis (AS) is a type of arthritis, so she can’t really do exercise, so I’m thinking maybe ‘trucker sitting for long periods, similar to being unable to exercise’…?

Meal replacement shakes,I had 2 a day one for breakfast one for lunch then a normal tea but not late on…sure you’ll be hungry as hell for the first week or so after that your body will adjust and the weight will drop off,I lost nearly 2 stone.

Do you recommend any particular brand of shake?

I used these…
supplementcentre.com/buy.cf … /yes/84609
Also sell on eBay but slightly more,2.25kg tub will last roughly a month on 2 servings a day…so you’ll also save a fair bit of cash compared to the butty van
You’ll also need a shaker too to mix it in,cost around £5 this is a good one

As you can put a serving of power in the compartment that screws in the bottom for your lunch.

I know people hate this advice, but honestly it’s really simple: eat less, exercise more. Shake diets etc. just aren’t sustainable in my eyes.

I wouldn’t overthink what you are taking to work, so long as it isn’t pies & pasties and lots of sugar, just take what you want in a sensible quantity and be disciplined. Don’t have a cake with the coffee from Greggs, never carry change with you where vending machines are, bin off vending machine coffees because they are full of sugar & junk, limit the fry up & pies to maybe once a week (fat friday), drink plenty of water.

On top of that, make a point of parking at the far end of the truck park and making the walk to the facilities & just generally make a point of walking to places more rather than taking the car. Take the stairs not the lift. Go for a run or go swimming once or twice a week if that takes your fancy, play a sport.

It’s a marathon not a sprint.

Bottom of the range Morrisons musli first thing, then a grapefruit about 10.00am, then a salad for dinner, along with a banana and yogart, nothing in the afternoon apart from water, and then an omelette and salad for evening scran, coupled with a bowl of tinned peaches [drain the juice] & low fat yogart…

All this whilst necking 2 litres of water a day, and cut out the booze, all very good for the waist line, and the back pocket

Those cab steps are your mobile gym, do a few up & downs and then up the count as you get fitter

Lift both feet off the floor whilst driving, increase the period as you get better at it, think of it like a gym bunny doing a plank, its good for the thighs and stomach amongst other things…

From personal experience if you are serious about losing weight eat sensibly, what the OP suggests is fine, do some exercise, walking is great, and cut right down on beer consumption.

Yeh, I forgot about the walking, I do 5km a day as well…and zero alcohol

I eat sensibly now, I cut out pastries junk food and drink plenty of water. It is easy to lose weight but difficult to sustain the weight loss unless you stick to it rigidly. I lost 2.5 stone by just cutting out rubbish. My life style is so much healthier than it ever was, you can lose weight as a driver by simply not shovelling junk inside you. Biggest thing for me was planning and preparing meals ahead of breaks. It all starts with shopping and buying the right stuff first off.

I’ve lost 1 stone 2lbs in 6 weeks following these rules:

Eat within a 6 hour timeframe
Minimise sugar
Those rules don’t count on a night out.

It’s all about finding what suits you. Maoster says breakfast like a king, if I d that, I carry on eating all day, on the other hand, I don’t like going to bed on a full stomach, so I eat roughly between the hours of noon and 18.00. It’s a form of intermittent fasting and after the first 4 days of feeling really hungry, I got into a groove and I don’t feel hungry till around mid-day.

I like things that are fairly straightforward, boiled eggs, soup, sandwiches, rice and something, apple, banana and some nuts to snack on.

I give up on prescriptive diets, trying to eat stuff you don’t like, doesn’t work, so I eat pretty much the same things most days.

I’ve got a little challenge going - walk 2017 miles in 2017, which is roughly 5.5 miles a day. I’m about 6 miles off the mid way target

I think a lot of it is down to metabolism.
I’ve always been a bit of a bean pole, and the amount of food and beer I consume is sometimes quite staggering.

I’ve gone from 14 stone 10 to 12 stone 10 in the last 5 months without to much exercise as I fractured my heel. Still causing my a bit of gip but I’m walking more and more now. Although I don’t think walking is going to do that much good. Need to work up a sweat really.

I used to eat a lot of crap. Slow cooker meals with way too much meat. Changed my diet. Stopped drinking sugar based fizzy drinks. Have a couple of tins of oily fish per week with some veg.

Try the soups: Cully and Sully. Chicken one and fish are best soups around. Very filling and not many calories. Chicken one and a few others I’ve not tried are only £1.50 but the fish one is £2.49. They come in plastic bowls so if you have a microwave in cab it’s ideal.

Forget about fat and sugars and think in terms of calories. Worth getting or borrowing someones weighing scales that calculate Basal Metabolic Rate. This is the amount of calories your body needs per day. Obviously to lose weight you need to eat less calories than that. Mines currently 1800.

Go easy on the fruits. Lot of sugar. You eat too much you can put on weight. Surprising how those calories build up. Eat pretty much as many veg as you want as low sugar in most of them, unfortunately not very tasty either.

I only have chocolate now at the weekends. Have an oat bar in the evenings. I’ll treat myself a couple of times a week with Icelands fish pies (very nice), and the shephers pies (lot of saturated fat) but if you are good for the rest of the week it’s not going to hurt.

On the fruit thing, it’s fructose, unless you eat masses of the stuff it’s not going to make you fat, it’s healthy stuff so eat it! There’s three portions in my average day along with around 5-6 of veggies and I’m losing weight.
