Looking for old photo's of Forest of Dean firms

Fair play to Reads.
There cant be many firms that do a mobile trailer wash ,as seen on the back of the Harry Potter Man … . sorry EC. :stuck_out_tongue:

  1. There was nowhere better to take the shot.
  2. The cameraman is sh*te anyway.
    :unamused:

Now I dont know if Im heading for trouble by posting this outside Forest of Dean photograph ,…so it`s tin hat on head and ready . :unamused:

Whilst on holiday in the St. Briavels area and visiting “Daphdriver” and his Good Lady a few years ago , we all visited Oakham Museum , just off the M5 ( or somewhere nearby !) I was passenger , so not looking at road signs for once .

Amongst all the wonderful displays of bygones , was this little Ford Thames. I know that Chepstow is outside the Forest of Dean , but maybe a mention of the Ford and this photo might not be out of place .

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Your visitors visa will have to be reviewed. :unamused:

O.K. Message understood .
I was chased out of the area by the wild boars .

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

And ROF,s visa will have to be reviewed also for failing to ask the question about RR,s fleet. We foresters can be very spitefull :unamused:

Not half! There was a report ont’news this morning concerning a flock of heavily-armed sheep heading northbound on the M5.

Yers a couple of Matty’s old trucks…

Looks a tidy line-up.

Yers an old Atki 8 wheeler that I went to see today, it’s a real rarity as it’s got an AEC engine and gearbox fitted from new (I didn’t know that). I also went for a ‘Jolly out’ in a Borderer that hadn’t been started for 3 weeks or so. What a great afternoon, Thanks guy’s…

Kip an eye on that Atki, old But. Should be good to see when 'er’s finished.

Sure will 'ol 'un. It was originally a Whitbread tanker, but they putting her to a flat…Great bunch of guy’s, had a great afternoon. Sunshine, Atkinsons and diesel fumes, what could be finer?..

As long as you haven’t got to drive the ■■■■ things six days a week!
It’s just slipped into my memory that the Jones brothers (Rothdean) used to have an 8-wheeler Atki tipper fitted with mesh sides that they used for carting silage in from the fields.
And Young George had a 6-wheeler Atki that we used as a quarry dumper at The Wilderness. No batteries so it was left at the top of the quarry so we could run her down the bank to start. Problem was, if you had left a load on it overnight, you had a bum-clenching ride down- no air and brakes on only one axle!

Check out the video’s I’ve posted on youtube.youtube.com/watch?v=YXoykKBcAmM

That looks very much like Lydney, Paul. And tell that driver if he doesn’t leave that bl**dy clutch alone I’ll clobber his knee with my handbrush! :unamused:

In 1935 , William Parry started a livestock and general haulage business .
In later years as the business grew ,his two sons , John and Michael joined , changing the name to Wm. Parry & Sons.

Sadly , John died last autumn , and now Michael owns only 1 lorry ,- a Volvo FM 6 wheeler on livestock feeds and fertilizer deliveries.
Michaels nephew , Simon Parry , (Johns son) is the driver.

When Wm. Parry & Sons operated cattle wagons as part of the family business , Robin Harris was the driver of this Volvo F7 6 wheeler.
Robin spent his entire 50 years` working career with the Parry family.

This photograph was taken about 8 years ago , when I was on holiday in the St. Briavels area.

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Not actually a real artic ,…but a model I repainted, and I chose the name of Wm. Parry & Sons.
They did operate artics from the late 1960`s , being Commers and Leylands.

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

What might have been, eh, cwm? Good job there.

Hi guy’s, I’m after any info or photo’s relating to WTE International, Lydbrook. As far as I know they had 2 trucks, a Volvo F10, reg. KWU 971V and a DAF 2800. They were dark blue with red chassis. That’s all I know so any other info would be great. I don’t even know anything about types of trailers/loads…Cheers

I know it’s a long shot, but in the back of my mind I seem to recall a dark blue unit in one of the photos on this thread taken at the old Edwards/BFI yard .
