Looking for old photo's of Forest of Dean firms

JUST TO WET YOUR WHISTLE PAUL…HAVE YOU GOT THESE…

You’ll be telling me next that I ought to include this new acquisition in the Read garage…

thats what i call a longline cab.what the hell is harold going to do with that?and is that a pool of oil under it?.oh and look what i found…

Bob, I’ve already got one of those Allinson AEC’s. But I did like those of Mike Prosser and Ward’s. It just surprises me that people take photo’s of old trucks that are laid up, and to think that today’s trucks will undoubtedly end up the same way. I wonder if you’ve seen these…

Its a puddle of diesel where they bled the fuel line, it actually belongs to one of Phil’s son’s, Steve’s brother (can’t remember everyone’s name nowadays) not sure what he’s going to do with it but I expect our Mart know all the juicy details. I’m liking the Johnny James pix, don’t suppose you got any of the Scammell, a lot to ask I guess. Been on the sidelines here for quite some time checking out the site but never really had anything to post, not having diesel in my veins. Pretty amazed at the response to this thread so far…

that pic above is the only pic of a scammell i got .think it was a cut down 8 wheeler or could be a genuine trunker.cant see. was that erf the one that went off down the bank at lower lydbrook loaded with sheet steel and demolished the old house?

lets wet your whistle again…

martin will probably remember when i started driving back in the late seventys, things were different then…

looks a bit tatty as they were being replaced by new daf’s…

hi wideboybob
nice pics of sca lydbrook remember it well, i can remember the mercs but not the daf’s.most of the boys from island site went to owner drivers and had scanias. i thought you were trying to restore a old aki borderer from edwards at lydbrook. i went to see bri cox to take pics of his wrecker but he had already sold it to lloyds he said he was going to take us up there but has got a lot on. i will post a picture of his seddon when i get home.

These are some photo’s I took of Brian’s wreckers. Good old boy, they don’t make em like that any-more…
