I arrived yesterday to 24h open place to collect some stuff for my company. It was about 18:45.
Unfortunably it wasn’t ready and they even didn’t knew nothing about it. I weas told to call my office, but it was no one there, so I phoned one of my supervisors on their mobile, but they told me to wait until morning, when the office crew will turn up to work.
So i parked just arround the corner, when soon arrived other trucker and we spent nice evening chatting about some trucker stories. I introduced him to Outher Hebrides and he was talking about Eastern European driving - isn’t it ironic?
At the morning, my office staff had conversation with this place’s office staff and I was told, that It will be ready afternoon.
In fact it was ready at 15:30.
Now I am at the site, I arrived there about 19:45 and it’s off course no one there, so I am spending a nice night out in Tong
But my total waiting time for being loaded was from 18:45 to 15:15 - 21 hrs.
I wonder who will beat me
(apart of everything is not so bad, unless I have some books with me. I had a breakfast in nearby cafe, then I finished one book, then I got some snooze, then I was reading some mags, then I started to read another book, then I moved to learn french from my excercise book… And I am paid for all that. When I started driving, i was already doing overtime, even if I havent done any work before - not so bad, isn’t it? )
not me directly, but at the drop in slinfold (flints),a east euro wagon was waiting for the original papers to come by ups, from where i dont know but yesterday was the THIRD day,and he would be away that night.
back in 1993 we had 2 wagons wait for papers to be sorted out to return rolls royce engines from moscow to derby… 29 days they sat after loading
but at least somebody was paying for that - more recently we had a lad sit 26 days on the russia-kazakh border because of “diplomatic” disagreement between their authorities and our own IRFO over 3rd country permits
Used to do abnormal loads and once sat for 4 days at Southampton docks waiting to be tipped, with a crated-up boiler. Apparently, the boat had to be loaded in a certain order and they wouldn’t tip me until it was ready.
Luckily my longest wait has been just over 2 hours at a B&Q store. I would have been annoyed about the fact, if I didn’t already know that they employ zombies to which speed and initiative are alien concepts
Company I was working for before this one had one of our drivers sat down in Gib for 5 weeks waiting for the paperwork to release the load lolol. This was recent too … summer of '06. The Spanish were being antsy simply because the stuff was going from Gib to the UK. Luckily we all had company credit cards etc. He booked into a hotel and hired a scooter for the 5 weeks. His Missus was going potty cos she said he was having a holiday without her lolol
went to tesco at tiverton with a 70 foot bridge section, i was told to be inline with the crane in one as no one had tried to reverse at this place
you’ll be tipped within 10 minutes.
the crane burst a seal so i had to wait about 27 hours. so we all got ■■■■■■■
A couple of years ago I had an 11 hour 10 minute tip at Matalan in Skelmersdale…[zb]…
It’s really not hard. If it needs stars it’s not allowed. There are going to be warnings going out about this soon I’m that sick of it. Go and re-read the rules before posting again, bearing in mind that by making a post you are agreeing to obey them. L.
Might not strictly count, but we had a trailer tip for a trial of some equipment in Madrid, wait one day and re-load the goods that he had taken down. He goes to collect the paperwork for coming back to the UK to find out the incoming paperwork was wrong and they wouldn’t let him leave the compound. Nor would they tip him. After 4 days the driver flew back to the UK and then flew back to the truck in Madrid 5 months and 1 week later.
