Another of Chris Hills pics where is this railway carriage travelling? It is/was some where on the south coast!
Sorry Jim but no Thursday club this week as I will be away in Swalecliffe Kent.
Hi Pat. I’ll have a stab at the railway carriages’ destination if only to be proved wrong. Was it what is now the A259 somewhere between Nutbourne and Bosham. Placed upon the grounds of what used to be a good old transport cafe and turned into an Italian restaurant. All that happened in the 60’s so could have been possible. I know your going to say it’s wrong and that was another carriage altogether !
Cheers , Nobby.
I think it was as Nobby says the A259.but at Emsworth. The cafe was called the Black Cat I think.Regards Charlie
Hi Charlie. You are correct about the cafe being called “The Black Cat” but I think it was a little bit more outside of Emsworth and closer to Nutbourne. Do you remember the tree in the gravel lorry park ? Many had a go at it but it remained standing even after the arrival of the railway carriage, which I do believe was an actual old Italian one. Also do you remember they did exactly the same thing at Gerrards Cross, Bucks a few years later ?
Cheers, Nobby.
Sorry Nobby.I thought that you meant the location of the lorry. That was I think the bridge at Emsworth.
As you say the location of the Black Cat was between Nutbourne and Bosham.Good breakfast.Regards
Charlie

He was Pat, and a really decent one at that. Len Seldon ( Ex Hill of botley ) was the General Manager.
Decent company to work for…then the take overs began, and the rest is history, as happened to so many other good companies…
