Richard you are one rotten spoilsport.I had just about closed the deal.Actually that is exactly the same as mine except for the colour.Mine is Rawlings green. (That was the only paint I could pinch) I did have some R and A burgandy but I painted the front room with it.Regards Charlie

Hiya,Good old pics of your old Scanias Pat,heres a photograph you Southampton lads might not have seen.
Heres a question, the trailer on the 110 is a “Kangaroo” tilt, these were shaped like this to travel on trains through Germany I think, you dont see these anymore in fact its years since I’ve seen one so when did Jamesons and other companies phase them out?
Cheers Bubbs,
Hi Bubbs I don’t think they did phase them out ! I think they had em up untill they finished
Here’s one I had on for Pat and this was about 82/83 ish Novara i think, they were still rolling then !!
But I’m sure someone knows different !!

Bubbleman , they were used on the Le Harve To Novara route using the novatrans rail system , they still were around last time was in Le Harve , GBE were running a fleet of over two hundred till the late nineties , on the same system , have some photos somewhere will look them out and post them , soon.

Hi Marcus,
Hope you are well, they were a good idea if loaded correctly used to carry animal skins in them if the load slipped on the train to Italy the French would take them off the train in Paris for example and the load restacked than back on the train to Novara or Turin by the time we got them in Italy the trailer was crawling with maggots especially in mid summer and the smell wasn’t too good either
Here’s a few pics the last one is the Italian version !!

Richard
Some more pics of Jameson Kangaroo’s
Lots of companies had Kangaroos
Feblands
This had fallen over French side of the Blanc
Not sure if this was a Kangaroo?
thanks for the photos Mr D , but a couple of questions if i may , in the photo with the Aquila Kangaroo you have L Plates up shoe was learning to drive then as i can remember the truck coming into Jamesons yard with L plates but can not remember who was learning ? , also the black scania was from poole the company name was ambrose i think with a driver called mike and a Fiat with a driver called terry if my memory serves me well , was that the company Tony B came from?

Hi Trailerman
Dave Tutt was the driver of KOW 496Y and it was his mate who was learning to drive suited me as they could do nearly double the work!!!
I thought it was Natham Ambridge from Poole next to mark Comptons Yard at Mannings Heath and yes Tony Burgess did drive that Scania and he then went on for Graham Sanford, who incidentally came in my yard a few weeks back to pick up a trailer, he is an owner driver again with an immaculate 4 Series Scania
A couple more pics my son unloading a Ford machine in our yard last week.
Hi Pat yes your right its was Natham Ambridge , wow that was a name i had forgot Graham Sanford if i remember right he was a very immaculate driver who wore overalls to strip the tilt down and kept his truck in immaculate condition , did he come from Newbury area i think he worked for Sayers Of Newbury at one time and yes i remember tony going to work for him ,so thinking back about tony he worked for scac in portsmouth but who was he working for then was he back on for you then ? you got me thinking back then and another name i remember was Tim Elkins ( or no nights out ) as his nick name was , now not 100% sure but did he have a F10 volvo and came from the Romsey area with a farm/small holding.
I only found this site a few days ago and have read back over the older posts so many names I have remembered over the past few days its been so good
your son pat is he a chip of the old block , working in the yard he looks so young!
Hi Hi Pat won’t be long mate and old Paddy will be driving that old 143 into the yard !!!
How’s the war wound Pat you must be back golfing now ay ! I think I’m off Thursday might pop into the yard will there be tea and bisquits !! Will you be there Thursday ■■?
Regards Jimski
