Hi Pat, do I remember Trebor Transport? Yes I’m afraid that I do. In fact I owned 40% of the company ! I must admit that I have made some big mistakes in my life but that has to be one of the first big ones. You’ve heard of the saying “A fool and his money are soon parted” ? Well mate I certainly proved the point !
On to the restaurant in France. The people in the first photo from left to right. The owner (green dress) Madam Faustine Rouger, the large man in blue, Mr. Kleber Roulin (her live in boyfriend). The other couple are friends from the local village, Yves. The name of the restaurant was ‘Halte du Marouillet’, south of La Rochelle, on the right just before the ‘Aire de Marin’ (commonly known as the fish restaurant). The restaurant was sold to the council and demolised to use the land for the ajoining Nature Reserve. Both Faustine and Kleber then moved to a small village south of Carcassonne at the foot of the Pyraneese called Fa. After a few years they were to split up and Kleber moved back to the Charente region where he eventually married a local woman (then in his seventies). Sadly Kleber died 4 years ago and Faustine just one year later. How am I so well informed ? Because they had been friends of mine and my wife for some 30 years and we still kept in touch with visits and phone calls right up to thier deaths.
Well done Nobby I was certain you would know mate
Sorry to anyone who turned up today for the Thursday get together at my yard. I had to do a bit of driving from Holbury to Bagshot, I came back on the old A30 and stopped at the previously mentioned ‘Bakers’ Cafe just north of Hook. The floor is more uneven than ever
But they still do a really nice sausage sandwich!
Nobby do you recognise this tipper?
With out looking through all those Southampton pages i dont know if this one has been in before i expect you Hampshire guys will have some ideas on this one

Hi Pat and thanks for your faith in me. . Yes the old ERF tipper in the above photo, I am sure was purchased by my brother Andy from someone down in the Mendips. He in turn ran it from there on stone for a while before reverting back to the continent. If this is the same lorry then although I cant make out the Reg. No. from the photo then it should read CUN 11T. As you can imagine we had many a laugh over it as by the stroke of a pen you cold make it read…
Bye the way you are absolutely correct about Blockrete and I knew of many people who worked there. Their lorries were a regular sight around in those days and if I am correct were in a green and white livery. Was’nt the old cinema called “The Ritz” and I bet you used it on a Satuday morning as well as many more of us.

Hi Bev, you are about right with the date of the photos and he would have been around 25 at the time. I couldn’t say where the pic’s were taken but you may be correct as around that time they were running a lot of lambs from Coggins, Fareham down to Marseilles. Brings back a lot of memories for me as well seeing that old lorry and a slimline young version of Andy.
HI, TIR ORIGINAL,YOUR RIGHT THESE PIC DO BRING BACK OLD MEMORIES,AND IM PRETTY SURE THAT I ALSO LOADED OUT OF COGGINS WITH LAMBS FOR FRANCE,PRETTY SURE THAT I TOOK THEM TO ONE OF TWO PLACES,IT WAS EITHER POTIER OR ANGULEM, THINK IVE PROBABLY SPELT BOTH THESE PLACES NAMES WRONG, BUT YOU WILL KNOW WERE I MEAN,REMEMBER THE OLD FRENCH BOYS USED TO TRY AND SELL THE LAMBS OFF THE BACK OF ME,IE:USE ME AS A COLD STORE,BUT LIKE YOU SAY THEY WERE THE BEST DAYS, AND IT WAS LOVELY TO SEE A PIC OF YOUG ANDY, REGARDS BEV.
