With out looking through all those Southampton pages i dont know if this one has been in before i expect you Hampshire guys will have some ideas on this one
Hi les freathy
I remember Blockcrete they had a yard/works at Mount Pleasant Road between the the level crossing and Northam Bridge I was born near there in Empress Rd use to walk through their yard towards to the bridge by where Southern TV had their studios in what was an old cinema.
Who is older and can remember the name of the cinema■■?
Hi Ainacs,
the name of the cinema was the Plaza!!However, of more interest was the stream-lined Jennings-built cabs of the ERF fleet out of Mount Pleasent and Nutbourne on the A27 near Chichester,
Hi Pat this pic comes from Kitformservices the model truck people built by Howard from KFS
I have asked if it’s ok to use the pic he said yeah it’s ok.

Where’s Fergie■■?
Went well on the island today Alan, Horace or should I say Alan Bernard Ransome was cremated at about 12.30 today.
Several of us there Nick, Kevin (Gerbil), Mick Helliwell and Ron Griffiths gave a eulogy in the chapel.
Hi all, thanks for putting them on Pat,
Hi Swayze the Transcon model was the test run for the Transkit that Howard does looks good eh! But also he does a Trans kit for the Volvo 88/89 which I know you’ll be interested in, I bought one Alan and they are really good.
Look them up on the net Kitformservices.
morning pat, thats a nice pic of jim squibbs motor, this truck was eventualy painted up in avon tyres coloures, originaly the driver was our old friend kenny batten, i als had that truck right up until she dropped a valve on the way up the A6 autoroute just south of nemores,i had been sent right up into the mountains to SAN MORITZ to pic up a load of bottled spring water, they loaded the trailor out with twenty six pallets then started to double them up, so in all i think i had around fourty ton on her,i wasnt happy about it and telexed squibbie who in turn told me that one of his other trucks had broken down and wouldnt be able to pic the other load up,so i was to bring it back to soton with both load on her, well it was to much for her really,i had to ajust the trailor brakes at least eight times on the way back down the mountain, kept getting brake fade, anyway to cut a long story short she dropped the valve and was pulled off the autoroute and put in compound,i got a lift back with one of jamesons to soton, that was the last trip she did.bear in mind that she had already been rebuilt twice before, had done a lot of miage when kenny had her.
Here is a picture for you all to get stuck in to…Whats there names.
I was going to put it on the Mammoth thread but thought i would be cheeky and put it up here first…Hope that’s OK.
Jimski: Do you and your Bro’ swap clothes and shades?
Its good you could make it to the island Pat. It was good for all of us at the August bash to have seen Horace one last time and have some good memories. RIP Horace.

anyone remember British International from Nursling, white Daf units and blue tilts? They used to do Black & Decker part loads out of Spennymoor for us to Estoril as they weren’t much use to us - good set of lads in their office as well as on the road, seemed to vanish early 90s
I drove for British International for 6 years, started out with a Daf, then given a new Ford Transcon, started with them as Cabmont, nickname (Cabover), some of the drivers I recall, Dave Pope, Bill Bailey, John Simpkins, Nobby Stratton and his brother, Bill Bayley my best mate ,now living in the Gambia,Reckless Rat, always losing his running money, when I was there I managed to convince the guvner Frank Allen to give the drivers Shell fuel cards, and turnround bonus’s, the previous system of running money was so inefficient. Used to meet up in the green hut Matasinhos Oporto, hauling for Garland & Laidley, had some great times.
I was a subby for BI,when Tim was running it with Peter Taplin, there was an office opposite the port in Leca de Palmeiria, knew the “Aninimal”,Stuart Smith, the father and son of the Alldridges, the old man was called “Popeye”,and scouser John Povey.
The BI office boss was Manuela de Caldevera, ran a shoe warehouse with her partner,Isobella and Anna Ferriera in the office too.
MaggieD Thanks for the info.
It is one of Chads pictures.
I cant find a thread for Mammoth Transport so i might put pictures on this thread if that’s ok ■■?
I would like to buy and collect some Mammoth Tpt pictures if anyone knows were i can source some.

Good top hear from you and Shady, I remember you, Pete Wolstencroft was the transport manager when I was there and Tim Allen , Frank Allen asked me to come off the road and work in the office, once I did that I became one of them, and lost my mate relationship, with other drivers, I took drivers on, and got rid of a couple who were not up to the job, but the old hands were a good bunch, didnt last long in the office, didnt like the back stabbing, left the firm and worked for Lamberts, Meachers, and a few other companies as a subby, miss the old days though, and I still have my licence just in case I feel the nostalgia for the smell of diesel and rubber, let me know when the next reunion is I would like to be there. Bill Bailey sold his cafe and now lives in the Gambia, I went to his farewell party in Devon, dont remember getting back top Southampton
Mike
