Long Departed Southampton Hauliers (Part 1)

REEMA were between North Baddesly and the Abbey Park Roundabout. It was empty for a long time before Pentalver started using it. Business units now I think.

The Reema site is now Draper Tools

Well to stop this thread falling off the front page here is a pic of my old 143 RIB4466 seems it still has my name on it!

It was bought by a tractor pulling enthusiast from near Salisbury.

No answer to this one then■■?

Ennis brought in some pics from his brother Andy’s widow.

Here is the first one does anyone know who is Andy carrying in this pic? Taken in front of a British International DAF 2800!

Is he possibly something to do with Mappo judging by those socks?

I can remember racing down into Southampton from the Mendips when my Dad (Bev Wyatt - Fergie) used to drive for Ian Root.… Chris (Lee)

Hello Chris… Know Ian Root very well, and his Dad Jim who use to drive for Henry Smithers. I’ve worked with Ian on a couple of occasions. He came over a while back and spent several days with us here in Brittany with his family… We kept in touch until about 18 months ago when our computer went ■■■’s up and I lost all my e-mail addresses, his included, and didn’t have a telephone number for his new address. Last time I spoke to him, he was living in Fordingbridge. I didn’t know him when he had his wagons, although I did use to see them, always clean and tidy. Pity he’s not on the site, as I’m sure he’d have plenty of photo’s and tales to tell

Another of Bubbleman’s pics from his Scrapbook thread with a Southampton link 'Greenwoods who had a depot at Rownhams (Fprmerly Victory Transport)

I can remember them Pat when I worked there as a nipper, I started in the summer of '62, ready for the big freeze that following winter of '62 - '63. Spend most of the time out on the recovery wagons pulling trucks out of the ditches !!! There were a pair of those Scammels, driven buy two brothers, who’s names escape me at the moment. Think they may have been running from Fawley to London ? Chris Hill will remember for sure.
