Hi All
Hi Fergie just had a few days in Tichville is that anywhere near you
Rich

HI Richard,

Yes I seem to remember TVS got involved back then in the 80’s. I was but a mere kid then, but I clearly remember the interview with Jan in his back garden at Bishopdown. He a real nice bloke and as I mentioned, Im kind of related to him. Its a long story.

On another note, I am sure I drove an old Renault for you Richard way back in the early nineties. It was a red/marron colour and I seem to remember I did tilt tipping for you in Heywood with it. I didnt stay long, as I was offered a job doing continental driving.

Chris

Hi all, hi Gerbil I hear you know an old buddy of mine John Morgan ? R jImski

Thanks Marc for another pic of NAR 608P from before I owned it

This is what it looked like when I bought it with a broken gearbox from Malcolm Harrison’s

This must have been who had it before me

Here it is when I owned it somewhere in France I think with SEV928W and BOR 721V with the two Huntley’s Eddie and Ronnie.

one of mo baker’s finest…my dad drove for them until they finished up,he drove this(although in much more standard form),some other transcons and ended up with a very tidy leyland roadtrain, all mo baker’s trucks were getting on in years but were all smart and well cared for0

hi its the nig, it didnt have the show stuff on it cause i took it all off when i pianted it. welded all the holes up and put it back as all the rest. lenny biggs baker"" used to drive it, liked the company so much he bought it. only trouble the cheque bounced so had to wake up and go to work agian. wich roadshed did your dad have C487, or the ones with the scoops on the top. the reg’s cant think off at the moment, will ask baker tomorow. the nig cheers see you in a bit.

Pat, did you pick up on my posting reference a vehicle that I used to drive that I believe you used to own?

It was on Irish plates, I think the reg was something like LIL 6600 - It was a blue and white 142 V8 Scanny.

Regards
Chris

Hi Chris

I did see that posting but I honestly cannot remember that one, did this Andy live just the other side of Salisbury on the road you can cut through on to come out on the A36 Warminster Road? If so I know who you mean and I remember selling him quite a few spare parts years ago.

I did sell, break and run some 600 Scanias from 80’s to 143’s but only one 4 series a 114 so to be fair although I do have a fairly good memory some will obviously fall though the old grey brain cells! must be all those diesel fumes

But I don’t remember that V8 LIL 6600 any other clues?

Regards Pat

Did you see my posting about Chris Lagdon?

hi nig,my dads name is brian(or known as rob/robbo),he had one of the roadtrains with the spoiler on top but dont know the reg,he ended up moving over to the new container firm who i think took over bakers yard but is now semi retired,i really like whay you did with the transcon…did you show it and did it win anything?

Yes Pat, thats the fella. ! I went all over Europe in the old girl. I seem to remember she was a 6x2 with a rear lift. She was a navy blue colour with white stripes around the top of the grill and door lines. The diesel tank on it was absolutely massive. Home made job I think. I can only remember the reg being something like LIL …

The only time she ever let me down was when I mentioned about the clutch pipe. And Andy the guy who owned her used to drain out the tank everytime I got back to the UK to run his UK trucks on for the week  Trouble was, he used to stir all the ■■■■ up in the bottom of the tank and I was forever changing filters on it to keep it running. I had to change a filter on the Barfleur one morning right at the front doors of the boat. I wouldnt start !! I was first off, so no one could get past me…

Chris
If you were the pilot of the Ryanair from Tenerife to Bristol last night ,I suggest you would be better back driving ,as when we hit the runway we nearly took off again , I have never had a decent landing with Ryanair ,but with Thompsons you dont feel the plane touch down.

Wasnt me mate. When I land you dont even know youre on the tarmac. I always do “greaser” landings. Im renowned for it    (no smugness icon)

Hi Ennis Stratton came in lunchtime today along with Alan (Swayze) and Pat Scorey.

Ennis brought in some pics from his brother Andy’s widow.

Here is the first one does anyone know who is Andy carrying in this pic? Taken in front of a British International DAF 2800!

Is he possibly something to do with Mappo judging by those socks?

Another of Terry Moody’s pics a Reema Scammell Handyman I think

Yes Chris they had a yard at North Baddesley terry’s dad and uncle worked for them as did one of my old drivers Pat Scorey.

Is that the place on the left going towards Castle Lane from Romsey side of Baddeseley in the dip. Didnt it used to be a crane hire depot a few years back (90’s)■■

Another of Terry Moody’s pics, my old faithfull 143 delivering an old Poclain to the docks.

Sorry to all but there will not be a gathering at my yard this Thursday lunchtime as I have been invited to play golf at Brockenhurst and that starts at 10am!

Regards Pat
