Yes Mappo, our old mate Bob “Nunkey” Newman. He was in contact with us before the bash but was unable to attend. Maybe next year.

I did a bit of holiday relief for this lot out of North Baddesley. I dont think I have posted this before.

Hi Swayze way before my time aswell but accrording to Chris Hill they were testing the linkspan with over 100 tons weight using old trailers on solid rubber wheels

I remember Harline Transport very well in fact I rented a small part of your dads yard way back in early 80’s these pics were taken in the yard at Nursling, I remember them having 3 Maggies on for STS in their colours and an old Atki Borderer then a big DAF2800

I seem to remember a chap who did the old cases from BAT (Geoff Hurst?)

Hi R Jacko I eventually got a copy of the Heritage Commercial magazine and you were right Meachers Transport bought 3 of them Handyman units and they were on china clay up from cornwall that was prob 73 when they were new when i joined Meachers in about 1980 they were old hat and that Handyman was my first truck when the first one gave up on the M4 i was given another one i cant remember which of the two MOR was. But its a good article.Did you get a copy ■■ Jimski

I went into W.H.Smiths to get the Heritage Commercial magazine unfortunately they didn’t have any copies left so i brought Commercial Motor instead.

No Gary.Horace only had Scannies except for the Transcon I had.Colin and Nunky had the Maggies.Jim Street drove one and Les Charles drove another.Regards Charlie :laughing: :laughing:

Hi Swayze I thought I did answer that one with some more pics Chris Hill only told me they were testing a linkspan so would only have been Normandy or Thoresens!

I’m sure one of our older readers will know for sure here is a ariel pic of Thoresens original linkspan
