Anyone else on here remember him ?

Hi Dave,
Hope you are keeping well !
Great shot of Derek, he worked for me on the tanks when I took on the Robert Armstrong trucks and drivers, when he lost his HGV he drove a Mercedes Sprinter for me on a Virgin Mobile contract which involved going to Daventry on a Sunday night to pick up the phones for distribution next day, I got a call at about 9 pm one Sunday to say he’d collapsed in the warehouse at Daventry and been taken to hospital, I picked up his wife from Romsey and rushed straight up there, but we were too late he had had a massive heart attack !! A great character, friend and driver R.I.P.
Regards
Richard

All’s well here in sunny Bretagne, and you ?

Jimski and I were wondering What year did Derek passed away ? I read it on here a year ago and couldn’t believe it, he was such a big, strong bloke, and a nice guy to run with.
I have a story of him and I on his first trip, it involves a dead donkey and a bridge, perhaps this winter I’ll settle down and write it up.

Fergie

Met Derek on several occasions over the years, I think he was at BFC many years ago. Did he not drive a road tank for Dennis Dixon and parked it at the Golf club layby in North Baddesly.

When I was doing my apprenticeship in the Unigate workshop in Shirley, Mr. Brady lived opposite. Many a monday morning, jump started the BFC 88 he drove. He had a neighbour, “Mad” Frank, or “Maltese” Frank who worked for FH Roberts and a bit for BFC I think. Owned a Lotus Mk2 Cortina back in 1974. Anyone recollect him?

hi its the nig"" brady was to finish his apprentiship this year, but still falling behind on his homework. a bit off string and a rivet on the road is okay, to get you home . brady dose that in the yard. he still dosnt listen, so ime still getting him out off trouble sorting his problems for him. he gets piad for the job, i fix it. so ime going to keep him for another year, try and get him through his exams. so mr evans your up and about agian, good to hear i finally worked out how to drive this thing, to many buttons for me if it had pedals and a gearstick i would be ok. so monkeyspanner you seem to have done a lot off driver damage over your time driving, chalky white. extreeme fitter, ive seen him pull a gobstopper engine into pieces over night, take the bits into princes into you cleaning machine in the day, then overnight put it all back together i left him at ten at night opened the work shop the next morning at 7 she was running. top fitter, top man. dont know where he is now. see ya bye for now nig""

Top notch is Chalky. He has a workshop with another chap based in Reading. He is on here but reads only Nig. I have his fotos to put on drip by drip.

Evening all, last Sunday while in Winchester shopping, i bumped into Bob Burton ex Sea Route ( 26 years )
and had a good natter for 1/2 an hr. He,s 73 now and in recent years has had serious health problems.
He asked to say hi to everyone he knew and worked with over the years. A good old boy and always a gent.

Here,s my last 2 photos of Graham Wainwrights featuring the man himself and does anyone know the other guy
being a bit personal with Marseille Lille ( remember those ■■? )
