Ray Smyth:
Hello, Further to my search for “Robert Baillie” info, I Thought I might try a different approach,by putting the names of the Portsmouth
drivers on here, those that I can remember.

Roy Murfin John Porter Les Lashley John Heather Bill Penwarden Ted King Dave Youlden(RIP) Roy(Dusty) Miller
Jimmy Farmer Maurice Joel Bob ■■■■■■■ Les Fuge John Fuge Mervyn Hughes Ray Golds(RIP) Henry Drzystyk
Jack Webb Terry Walker(Mechanic).

At Horndean Office, Amos Phipps,Bert Blaskett,Mick Ansell, All RIP.

Regards, Ray Smyth.

Hi Ray,

Hope you are well.

I remember Dave Youlden I think he was on Burnetts for a while, and Terry Walker seem to remember him being in a workshop in Milton Rd Portsmouth at some time, and of course Mick Ansell lovely chap who started up Eagleway, lived in Clanfield his son Steven still has a truck.
Do you remember Percy Powell in Rowlands Castle ?
Better go before the Southampton lads start on me

Regards
Richard

Hello Richard/MaggieD, I hope I am not putting too much Pompey stuff on what is a Soton Thread. Is it like up here in the
North, for example,Scousers don’t like Mancunians, and vice versa?.Dave Youlden did go to Burnetts after Baillies,
Terry Walker was a great mechanic,He could fix and build anything, despite his poor eyesight. I joined Baillies at just
about the time that they bought Percy Powells, early 1970.Theirs was a mixed fleet,Ford D series artics,Bedford rigids,
AEC Mercury 24 TonGVW Artics, one of them JRV44F was a flying machine,It would do just under 80mph,There was one
AEC Mandator,GTR 953D 32 tonGVW, When it was running well,It pulled very well

Thanks for your reply to my recent post, Kind Regards, Ray.

Hi Tony, st Jean de Pol now theres a place i went to quite a bit for david eady,/tipro,we used to load potatoes there mate and take them up to walkers Leicester, lovely part of Brittany,re the match sticks mate i remember when the first part of the M3 was open but only as far as Bagshot then back onto the old A30 one night i was so knackered that i went right over the other side of the motorway and half way up the bank and back down on to the right side the motorway,it was only the fact that there was 20mm clean stone in the centre reservation hitting up underneath the motor that i woke up, could say the match sticks broke, i was very luck mate it was early hours and no traffic heading south bound, was driving an old handyman with a gate change, health and safety would have turned in their grave mate.had a twenty foot container on full of copper wire for slough and on the back as high as a double decker the old cauliflowers for the burrow market, lots of weight, i remember having to allow myself plenty of breaking time, just another day in the trucking fraternity mate, all good experience.

Lovely picture.

Dear Ricardo did the Parsons not end up with running a company for a wealthy hotelier from Jersey shipping food etc over there, seem’s to ring a bell to me cheers Buzzer.

Freddy the Goat is progressing well Richard. Now on semi solids, sort of when you have Weetabix soaked in milk for too long…

PG&B Parsons I don’t think had their truck painted in Eurohaul’s colours. Two tone Orange it was originally.
(Pete (Dad) and Dave Parsons).
No idea what happened to them after the demise of Eurohaul.

Gazzer today I spoke with Matt Newman and he confirmed that Nunky did indeed have JBG 70P an F89 as picture below and also he bought another from Doss RIP which was GHO 1N. Glad Freddie is progressing well but are you going to eat him or leave him intact and let him loose to chase all the girls just like you did all those years ago, cheers Buzzer.

Jeezurs John, Matt has only just got home and you’re on his case!

I knew the reg. JBG70P well but just couldn’t place it. F88 290 that it is!
GHO 1N was an F89, ex ASR if I’m not mistaken hence why Doss had it.

Never eat a named pet is the mantra…I could do it…know what I mean, but I might be eating him on my own! I’m sure he will live a long and fulfilled life even if it is tied to a varied selection of olive or almond trees. Just to keep the weeds down. :unamused:

Good morning!, not been on here for a while. ■■■■■■ (Steve) is going to do the business this Sunday in London. Please help him get there, thank you so much, H ■■

Reuben’s Adventure of a Life Time

#RAOALT

On the 24th of April 2016 I will be competing in my third London Marathon. My aim this time round (apart from a 3 hour 30 minute finish!) is to make a real difference to a couple of local lads, twins in fact, that have faced adversity since the day they were born. Reuben and Zachary Smith are well known members of my local community in Whiteley and are now the grand old age of 6.

Since birth, they have both suffered from the affects Cerebral Palsy brings, and Reuben in particular is unable to walk and relies heavily on his wheelchair to try and live a normal childhood at his home and school. Unlike most 6 year olds, days out down the park and the beach don’t exist. Memories that make up any childhood we all have are out of reach to this brave little boy.

Well, out of reach until now……………
In April this year, the Smith family will have a brand new vehicle at their disposal so they make can all these simple journey’s we take for granted every day. Trips to the shops, holiday road trips, or round to the grandparents to be spoilt will actually be possible for Reuben and his brothers. The new vehicle needs a conversion, ramps and ancillary equipment must be fitted so that Reuben can be transported around with ease in his wheelchair in the environment that is crucial to his ongoing health and wellbeing. Without this he will be confined to a living room and a classroom for the majority of his childhood.

I am intending to raise £10,000 to make these childhood memories a reality………but I need your help………
After an agonising and frustrating year with injuries in 2015 I am now back in the full flow of running and my intense training programme has started. The next 4 months and 500 miles of training will ensure I conquer London for a third time. All I ask is that if you can support me in raising this money – it is without doubt my hardest challenge to date – but with you behind me we can make it happen.

Help me give Reuben his long awaited Adventure of a Life Time.

Thank you

Hi all just to update as much as i can about David & peter parsons. I went to work for them after i left the employment of Richard and Angela i was with them for about 10 or 12 years doing seabrook work before i went to Kawasaki.
