Hi Pete,
Hope you are well, thanks for the link brilliant photo’s on there, plenty of Maidments to keep Bev happy.
Maidment’s did quite a bit of work for Coggans abbatoir in Funtley during the 80’s whilst I worked there, they were I think bought out by Langdons from Taunton. Two of the guys that were brothers who worked for Maidments went on to be Owner drivers for Langdon’s I think they were called Peter and Nick Chavey…

Hows you bev.the craics gone out of the job here to.when get a chance i get some pics on.spent many happy hour waiting to tip in sgs and conti grain silos in the docks.does anybody remember the fruit company behind rank hovis by the wèe cafe.time i was pulling for carna they had a truck in there most nights loading for dublin market.always out last minute and fulla da pipe for the boat .great pics on here of the likes of pat duffys scanias and davies f88s and f89s.brings back memories when i was a young fella
Here’s Ian (Chip) Bernie in his former life working for Maggs doing traction outta Pompey for SCAC. Currently pounding the super highways of Canada and the USA.
Hi Kev,143, the only fruit company i can think of that were behind ranks were ffyfes bananas mate, but there may have been someone else in there as well kev, mappo might be able to help out on this one mate,(its the old grey matter mate)it dosent work like it uses to, be 70 this year kev, hope this is of help to you gerbil also buzzer might be able to throw a light on the fruit company behind ranks.
Hi TONY, yes mate not keeping to bad considering things, getting short on breath mate, doctors put me on some super drug to stop the whizzing at night, havent heard from Fred yet tony but give it time im sure he will get in touch, thanks for giving him my new email address mate, hope you and the misses are keeping well and that she isnt finding you to much DIY

Morning Kev143,i thought i was right regards ffyfes, think the cafe folded some years ago mate but dont quote me on that,Derek left buzzers and went on for Kings heavy haulage in Avonmouth but didn’t stay there for to long and now is on for our old boss John Ward who used to be Bulldog International but now has the container business in Southampton and both Ian and Derek work there and seem to enjoy it, they are on the wide load side of things, take it you use Dublin to Liverpool ferry, by the way kev i live up in Norfolk now mate, safe journey mate
He was with a Saints fan at the Leicester City FC game when the fan got interviewed concerning drugs in football. Les had no speaking part. There he was, equipped with his Saints floppy hat.
Mappo is probably the only one on here who knows who drove this truck, it was taken on Mont Cenis and takes you back some, must be before 1983 as only tandem axle one of Squibby’s aka Transport Services Southampton. Remember Squibby doing International in 63 when I was a nipper still at school Buzzer.
Hi Jimmer, that pic was a good find, firstly tandem axles were the norm then as you know…
Squibbs only had one tri axle tilt that they bought at the right price being a cancelled order…Bees knees pulling that
as there weren,t many about then…
Think that might have been Cluey driving that one, it deffo wasn,t Phil Dibden, he drove one of the Fiats all the
time i was working there…and it wasn,t Axles ( rip ) or Bob Cousins, not enough bling…
Just spoke with Cluey, and yes it was his motor…
Looking at that pic again Jimmer, i,d like to know where on Cenis that was taken…
Dont remember there being that much space anywhere…
