Are this company still about ? T.J.Poupart fruit importers.
Hi Dean don’t think there are many companies left in the old fruit market nowadays its almost finished, Poupart’s had a fair sized stand in the market. Once worked for a company there in sales R.Drouet & Co. did a lot of sales on the phone to blokes I never met in other markets, remember selling Hampshire grown tomatoes that were as green as grass but they loved them not too forward as they had plenty of shelf life.
Most green grocers have gone now done in by super markets that’s why the decline in demand in the fruit markets, used to do Covent Garden when an OD a lot but the place was buzzing , now its just catering suppliers. In Southampton the main supply comes from Mack’s who operate from a warehouse in Nursling Ind. Estate on the outskirts of the town, sad but that’s the way it’s gone cheers Buzzer.
Southampton Market has recently been demolished and is now part of a rebuilding program
Richard, thanks to you too for that pic. It looks as if Paddy is overtaking you ! Surely not? Or maybe… he is. Speed limiter? Wassat?

Yes John i do remember clearing loads for Pouparts i think they also had a place in Bristol from memory. Like you
say every changes as time moves on ! Coopers had a office round the corner on the main drag by the park on the
one way system as if you were heading for Ocean Village.
Heres another company i dont know if they have been mentioned on here ? Smart looking motor but i cant remember
them having sleeper cabs on those aec,s.
Dean this tractor unit was supplied new to Laner from Prince Commercials before they became Volvo agents at Millbrook, he then went on to run Spring Road Transport Services out of Fareham and had loads of Leyland Marathons ( peanut punchers ) He had a personal registration number STS 1 which Ron Griffith ended up with and think he still has, would be worth a bit nowadays cheers Buzzer.

Rich.
Unless doing a bit of holiday relief I don’t drive them much these days, now in the transport office etc. We have a shiny new 18t DAF going on the road Friday with a small Fassi on the front.
They were off to Bristol this morning, spotted you by j5 m27 this afternoon. Is that a newer unit? Regards to the real boss at RGM.
