Hi everyone, do any of you remember a company from Burbage that were seen for a long time in and out of soton, the company in the old days was called Charles Eady Transport then changed over to his son David Eady, who helped set up TIPRO INTERNATIONAL and were seen all over europe and Scandinavia as far up as Helsinki, i believe they had a go at middle east as well, would like to hear from any of you that new them and their drivers.
Just something to move us back up the page
For Truncker08, Mick many day spent on here with Titch
OK Chris
Hi Dispatcher I met Chris Hill a couple of months ago outside the café I sell my eggs in, he knew me instantly and called to me as Buzzer which took me by surprise as I don’t think we had met before but the pig motif on my pickup gave me away… Then out of his car he showed me a drawing he had done of one of our trucks and let it be known he is pretty talented at drawing, not a talent every one has Buzzer.
Hi JD eggs taste great, assume shallots on shelf are yours also
regards Chris
Chris
What happened to Hill,s ,was it sold onto another company and changed its name ?
Hi Nigel
No it just went in a different direction Specialist Trailer Hire, after which a total change Depot now all rented out
Hi Dispatcher, spot on , spent many a mile in that one,I still say Titch was the best “heavy” man I ever worked with?
Off chance, do you know off he ever came back from Australia? And did Lenny ever pass his HGV test? Cheers ,mick
Hi mick
Yes he did call in once on a visit to UK, I was told
He’d been back since, think still in Oz
Lenny never got his hgv
Dispatcher ( sounds like an undertaker that ) the eggs on the shelf are from me , proper free range none of this they can go out if they want too business, the shallots also did 40kgs this year they are selling them and the money is going to my son Steven’s charity effort when he runs the London marathon in the near future. He and his wife did a half marathon at Silverstone this last week end he did 1hr 29m which is pretty good, don’t know how he does it.
Having a bigger hen house put up Friday as I cant keep up with demand for them eggs, cheers Buzzer ( JD )
Just a footnote while in Salisbury Market yesterday I heard that Graham Layley had died at 62 no age at all and his funeral was today, RIP , His dad and Jimmy Rawlings were mates and he pulled for them and I believe for STS Buzzer.
I have just posted these photos of my uncle Phil Dibdens (RIP) lorry he drove for Bakers on the ERF LV full sleeper thread and thought they should go on here too!
Jimmer who’s that cleaning the windscreen, looks a little like Micky Olio, (does any one know) cheers Buzzer.

Just look at them bell bottom jeans, you aint old enough to remember them are you Gazzer, or are you ? Buzzer.
What I do see is that it is the only 290 that ASR owned. One and no more! I think it was a stop gap motor 'cos there were no more 89’s available at short notice.
Ummm flared jeans…I had a pair or two!
Ref the picture of the 290 that was a good friend of mine who had come for the ride we were loading somewhere near Faenza but I cant remember quite where.
This was JCG 142N the first of two 290s I had from new the other was OAA 246P which I wrote off at 4am one Saturday morning right by the Police box just before the periphique.

That would be for Podgi then would it Ian ? Buzzer.
From the “shipping out of Poole” thread a photo from Geoff Luther.
JBG70P. I had a hunch that it was subsequently owned by John Glance. The lawyer from Wellow confirmed my suspicions although Buzzer thought Nunkey played a part in it’s life.
Anyone recognise the reg?
Gazzer wasn’t John Glance an American ? remember him think he parked in TIP’s yard of West Quay road. As has been said he nearly always shipped out on a Friday as he used to go ski-ing up the Blanc at the week end and could tip on a Monday, used to have the ski’s attached vto the cab. Maybee Nunky had the motor after him when he started Roberts Freight Services, it was a yucky two tone brown then IIRC, so long ago and im’e tired and my brain hurts, bye Buzzer.
PS. Longo used to go up the top where the action was but he only went up to watch the girls fall over and have a tipple or three.
