Not sure you’d of recognised him but it was Matt my eldest who apparently said ‘hello griz’ to you today in a well known 4x4 hire yard local to you.

Mike (regards to the boss)

Good morning everyone. A very sad day. I have just had a phone call from Terry Sparrows daughter. Terry passed away this morning. He deteriorated rapidly. No more pain mate. The funeral will be at Basingstoke Crematorium at a date to be advised.Regards Charlie.

Sad news indeed Charlie, even though it was expected…thanks for letting us know…RIP Terry

Sorry to hear the news of Terry thoughts go to his family.

As Mappo said we all knew the out come and very sad but relief for “Spadger” another knight of the road gone. We are all getting older and suppose it is inevitable we will lose our ex work mates and colleges as time marches on, never the less very sad, RIP Spadger , Buzzer.

Yes sad news about Terry R.I.P. my thoughts are with his family at this time.

As John says we are not getting any younger and time seems to fly by these days !

Regards
Richard

Very sad news concerning Terry the master of putting fuel consumption to good use. I would like to think he lived a full and good life and will now take a well earned rest. RIP terry vaya con dios

Salut, sad news about Terry may he rest in peace my thoughts are with his family . Respect for your support Charlie. Andy

It was most unusual to find it standing still. I do believe that Buzzer had a microwave cab fitted so that he could have eleven hours rest in thirty five minutes. Lovely pic Jim. Regards Charlie

So sorry to read of the passing of Terry Sparrow, he was a proper gent and always a pleasure to spend time with.
May he R.I.P.

We’re starting to disappear a bit too rapidly for my liking!

regards GAZ

Had a night out in Fordingbridge. Furnished with this chaps phone number courtesy of Mick Hellawell, I thought I’d give him a buzz. “Come on down, you know where I am, I’ll leave the front door open and a glass of red on the side for you!”
Alongside Ernie were 3 cork popped bottles of red. His supply I assume so he doesn’t have to keep getting up for another. Between us we polished them off. A few miles done and I brought him up to spee with recent events (anything since 2000). He IS reluctant to come to the August bash, become a bit of a recluse since Rose’s passing 3 years ago. He informed me that Peter of Verona fame is now living in the UK after the passing of Halliday, his wife. We have a little time to work on him before August. I returned to the truck in a semi disorderly fashion. Click the foto to rotate it.

Better this way up, JD.

Hi,

I well remember one afternoon dropping my trailer in the docks,so I could nip home for a few hours and catch the night boat to Le Havre,Ernie was there shipping out on the 3pm boat to Le Havre, he said “I’ll be in Le Havre tonight, and do a few hours to get south of Paris to miss the Peripherique traffic in the morning”. Good idea Ernie have a good trip, try and keep out of the Ferry Boat and The Leopard   might see you in Italy.
Next morning we arrive in Le Havre, quick coffee with Chantel and Beatrice and we are away, just before Tancerville Bridge we see a Rawlings trailer with a yellow Marathon on the front, which has pulled well off the road crossed the grass and is parked in the foliage with the headlamps on and drivers door open,so we pull up to make sure all is ok to find Ernesto asleep across the wheel, manage to wake him and get him going,so much for missing the traffic in Paris
He still got to Vicenza to clear customs on time so no harm done.
As John would say a Mary Hopkins moment.

Regards
Richard

Evening all…
Just logged in and read of Terry’s demise. Sad news again…
Its a fact I guess that as we all get older , life gets shorter!
None of us get any younger ( except TIR Tone , Charlie One and Richard QC ) … :unamused:

We just need to find out what tablets they’re on…

I’m sure , like all of us on this thread , Terry liked a laugh and wouldn’t want his old mates sad. Happy travelling and RIP.

Great pic of VTA. We’d all like a blast in that eh!

Tancarville features often in Ernie’s history. He recalled an event to me the other night.
He and Polly shipped out together much against Jimmy’s better judgement. They got off in LH in the afternoon, worse for wear the both of them. Polly said there was a small restaurant “under” Tancarville bridge (Ernie didn’t know of it) so followed Polly on. After a big topping up session they went to bed. Next morning Ernie surfaced to see a distraught Polly leaping up n down. “Wassup nipper?” “I’ve been robbed, no passport, no wallet etc etc”. That left them in a predicament to ring Jimmy. Ernie did the job and suffered the raised voice. “YOU SHOULD BE IN AUXERRE BY NOW! Bring him back to LH and we’ll sort him out”. Jimmy’s ruling was “Never again will you two be on the same boat on the way out!” Bunter just laughed!

Remember once going for the night boat coming up over Tankerville, it was ■■■■■■■ down and blowing a hoolie and I had my old man with me as well, any way we was low on fuel and it started to ■■■■ air so I swerved side to side and had a bit of resurgence and we made it to the summit of the bridge and coasted down the other side and just rolled in to the I think a Total garage which was a short distance off the bridge, filled her up and did not have to bleed was I glad of that in that weather and on to the boat, definitely an MH moment, Buzzer
